They might get to have the last laugh - but they'll only find that out at the same time as the rest of us.

And actually, only a tiny percentage stand the chance of having the last laugh. It's possible that someone has correctly got that there is a god and what he'd like us to be doing - but most other people with religion would disagree with that person, with just about all of them claiming that their own version of religion is the only true version.

So I'm more than happy to stick to my atheist views in the knowledge that most people with religion will be no less wrong about any god than I might be. :)

Silence is a great help to a seeker after truth. In the attitude

of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light and what is

elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our

life is a long and arduous quest after Truth, and the

soul requires inward restfulness to attain its full height.

We can all spout meaningless but nice words. It doesn't take religion to do that.

Try this one instead: does God want some people to be gay, or not?

If the answer is 'no', then god is short of the perfection that is claimed for him.

If the answer is 'yes', then who is going to tell those large number of anti-gay religionists that they're going against their god's will?

Either way, a huge number of people with religion are no less wrong about 'their god' than any atheist.

Which only gets to prove that having religion is not the answer to anything until such time as all those with religion are able to reach a consensus that matches the views of their god.

I think we are all safe. According to the Torah the righteous get to go to "heaven". Everyone else goes to Gehenna but only for 12 months after which they would have become righteous. So at the end of the day everyone goes to heaven. I bet there could be some very pissed off people finding Hitles stomping around complaining he needs more room.

so what you're saying is this....?

That many of the so-called religious have been lying to us?

Now there's a surprise. :lol::lol::lol:

Surely the concept of an immortal soul is de facto religious. Is there any corporeal evidence that we have a soul? Religious dogma tells us that animals don't have souls. We are unquestionably an animal, though we've evolved to do things animals don't do.

I don't believe in soul.

Other than fried chicken and stevie wonder obviously.

I agree in principle

I usually accept the 'soul' is the kind of essence of what you are. A lot of people who aren't religious still talk about the soul

when I talk about music I don't like, it's often becuase it has no (what I think of as) soul

If it were true I'd be so smited by now, I'd have no cock, no balls and no limbs. Science proves to me there is no God, I am totally comfortable with that proposition, to the point where I freely offer all monotheistic one-cells and any and all of the above, any zealot, indeed any joker claiming to to prove me wrong, five minutes with me to break you.

I'm not religious, but the fascist prick who started this topic is held in about the same esteem as the westborough baptist church by me.

I hold very strong views on a variety of political, philosophical & social issues, but equally understand that this isn't the forum to force them down peoples throats and incoherently insult those who disagree with me on them.

Fuck off please mate.

Cheers.

    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
