Well basically this guy...let's call him Jeff, posted a link on Download Festival's facebook which had an interview in it where Mr. Copping said; "Metallica are a great band but if they went away for three or four years then came back then they'd be even bigger. When they keep coming back they become boring."

Copping added: "Metallica have toured extensively and have been here for seven of the last eight summers. For me that is definitely overdoing it."

Now Jeff, among others also called him a c**t.

This is were it gets interesting;

At the beginning there is some basic arguments about 'Download not being a metal festival etc. and the occasional moron that keeps standing with his own point etc.

Meanwhile, they keep calling him a c**t and a moron etc

At a certain point though, Mr. Copping HIMSELF decides to reply, insulting jeff, who is a transsexual and everyone else. He then gave us some silly points, not thinking about the consequences, and retreated to Twitter.

As quoted by one of the victims;

He didn't answer our points.

He booked Metallica even after saying they'd be a boring booking when Soni booked them.

He retreated to twitter when he knew he was beaten."

Can I remind you all that he's the festival organiser of Download Festival, and isn't supposed to do things like this?

So he reacted like a twat instead of realising he's in PR and should get over it? That's nothing new, he's been doing that for years.

I fail to see how insulting someone that's calling him a c**t makes him prejudiced, just because the person he reacted to happened to be a transexual. Even if he used insults specifically related it could just be that he was pissed off and meeting abuse with abuse.

If a transexual called me a c**t I wouldn't have any qualms about calling them a w*nker. Equal treatment includes not treading around and avoiding abusing someone who's being a twat just because of their changed gender.

I'm not defending him btw, he is a stupid c**t a fair whack of the time, it's just from what you've told me I don't think there's sufficient reason to believe he's actually prejudiced.

Agreed it is perfectly reasonable to give back the insults you're getting. Andy shouldn't have got involved though really he should have just removed their comments on fb/twitter.

Did he insult transexuals or did he insult someone who happened to be a transexual (who had, among others, already insulted him)? There is a difference.

Not entirely sure why so many people feel justified in calling someone they don't even know such an offensive term without a reason or justification. The anonymity of the internet eh!
