A band that has limited appeal I think to the current generation of Leeds goers, i.e. done nowt for years. hardly going to get people rushing for tickets, more likley so whos playing in the tent......

Wow how interesting, so i get to see The Cure twice this summer (as seeing them at Primavera sound too) excellent :patsak:

......just hope they are appreciated by the younger crowd as they are niche even when they were big in the 80's

that line up poster we saw of the magazine with The Cure, Kasabian, and Foo Fighters with Florence and The Machine subbing seems like it might actually be real?

if so that line up blows my mind.

Been watching highlights of Bestival performance, hardly ripping it up like. they have some class songs,

Bit like a Sunday dinner re-heated in the microwave this announcement, decent, but not the same

A lot of people aren't given The Cure the credit they deserve. They really are a top band, very influential in several genres. You may not like them much, but I reckon almost everyone has heard "Friday I'm In Love", "Lovesong", "Just Like Heaven"... They were nominated for the hall of fame this year, that definitely gives them "legend" status. There's hints of a new album in the works, so I can see why they're booked.

A ballsy move and a pleasant surprise. I'm still not convinced it'll work commercially but I think The Cure subbed by Florence would be a genuinely different pairing for R&L and in a year where it's peers T and V are terribly bland and predictable a move like this should be applauded.

I just hope they take the same approach to the rest of the bill.

... better than all the other fests this year. imo of course - even if they all aren't my cup of tea.

downloads headliners are solid too - but thats aimed at a different market.

hope the undercard lives up to the potential it has

The Cure, Foos and Kasabian are a solid set of headliners. All with their own strengths! I love them all to. The Cure for me are the best out of the three. Genius of a song writer Mr Robert Smith... If your not a big fan but havent listened to them then please buy an album or two and give them a listen. You'll be surprised and you'll end up loving them

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
