If I understood it right, the new 18% VAT rate does not count for tickets that have already been sold and that are sold before this new law gets effective, which would be end of June soonest. This would mean it will have less effect for this year than I hoped for, but still it's good news for next year.

Was just thinking, I know drink isnt allowed to be taken into the festival, but is food?

It is allowed to take food into the festival site, but it's forbidden to make fire, so cooking is a problem.

No cooking stoves, I believe they have been forbidden by the fire department... And I have to say I think that's a wise decision, considering the warm weather and the many tents all over the island.

You'll be spending plenty of time off the island in Budapest as well. Sometimes you don't need to be at the festival until 6pm depending on which bands are on. It would be a waste not to spend as much time as you can in the City where bevvy and food is even cheaper.

Ah right cheers for that, how much money are we talking inside the festival for food and drinks i.e beer. Ive seen its about 1.50 for a beer and a bit more for food is this like actually true. Just seems too good to be true that beer will be this cheap inside of a festival

well yeah thats their festival prices, in the city of budapest its only like 50p a beer n shit so ive been told lol

depends where you go really but even in the more expensive areas around Oktagon and down Andrassy Utca you won't pay more than you do at home. We found one place last year right next to our apartment where it was about a quid for a litre glass. Always a good start to the day.....

Does anyone know what the camping is like in the festival? Is there much chance of getting a big-ish tent up like a 4/5 man or are we best with smaller tents? I'm debating on buying a new tent to make the heat a bit more bear-able!

from what ive seen the camp site looks pretty spacious, there isnt any restricted campsite area, your pretty much free to camp where you like appart from some areas

Ps would advise smaller tents with rigging up some shade in between if possible. Some people tie tarpaulin on the trees above their tents with space outside between the tents

I think 'cool' weather would kinda resemble that of like a hot british summer tbf. Not sure whether it would be cheaper to take a tent over or buy one there

Thanks for the advice, might stick to smaller tents then...I know I've posted this before, just hope that the camping is not tooo bad, think I'll be fine but not sure how my girlfriend will cope haha!

When I camped at Benicassim by 9am the tent was like a sauna and could not bear to be insde! Can imagine very similar at Sziget - not great when you have got to bed 5am!

Luckily the city has some lovely parks with a lot of peace and shade so if needed to get a quiet nap throughout the day it's easy to find somewhere!

There's loads of tree cover on the island - can almost guarantee you'll get a spot in the shade.

You'd be hard pushed to get a spot outside of the shade to be fair

Just get there at a decent time to ensure you're not pitching your tent right next to the open urinals. We aint talking splashback here, but full on gulleys. It's all that cheap Dreher.
