For those who have already been at Sziget, is it easy to get to the front rows or do you have to come early and watch all the concerts at the main stage before the headliners if you don't want to be far behind?

Do people want to start making recommendations (links to youtube videos) for some of the possibly lesser known bands that you are fans of?

If I'm honest I think that line up is very dissapointing (the stone roses, the pogues, two door cinema club, Placebo and a handful of others are the only real attractions for me), but I've heard great things about the festival, and with a little research I'm sure I'll find enough bands to get excited about.

In the four years I've been to Sziget, I've only once seen a better line up, so this certainly isn't a disappointing line up to me. But even if I would have been disappointed with the line up, I certainly would go to Sziget. Looking back at the previous editions it never were the crowd pullers that I enjoyed most, but rather the many great acts that are not that famous here, like Goran Bregovic and Leningrad. I didn't know them before I saw them at Sziget, but they make mad parties and make the crowd go crazy. If you like The Pogues, you'll probably like them too. Also in other genres there are always lots of cool acts to discover. I even found a few Hungarian bands I now listen to quite regularly.

I don't have the time to search for a lot of Youtube movies now, but here's one of Goran Bregovic at Sziget last year:

Other acts I recommend:

Che Sudaka

Bonaparte

Amsterdam Klezmer Band

Rotfront

Irie Maffia

Brains

Yonderboi

dEUS

The Black Seeds

Gocoo

Elektro Guzzi

And the craziest of all Hungarian acts (their music is not so good, but they make a great show): Soerii & Poolek

First of all, these are some of the best Hungarian bands that usually all perform at Sziget:

Irie Maffia / Hungary / Ragga, reggae, dancehall, hiphop, funk and rock /

(Not officially confirmed yet, but they're at Sziget every year, so I expect them this year too)

Brains / Hungary / Ragga, DnB /

(Not officially confirmed yet, but they're at Sziget every year, so I expect them this year too)

Yonderboi / Hungary / Electronica, chillwave, indie / click!

Zagar / Hungary / Electronica, alternative /

(Not officially confirmed yet, but they're at Sziget every year, so I expect them this year too)

Quimby / Hungary / Alternative rock, rock, funk /

Pannonnia Allstars Ska Orchestra / Hungary / Ska /

Tankcsapda / Hungary / Hard rock, punk rock, heavy metal /

(Not officially confirmed yet, but they're at Sziget every year, so I expect them this year too)

Hi! I'll be going to Sziget for the first time this year and coming from uk, does anyone have any advice about what the camping is like, is it worth paying to upgrade to the VIP camping tickets? Or would it be better to stay in a hostel in the city?

Thanks :)

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
