kaosmark2
"Around a spining black hole, space and time behave in such an odd way; space becomes time, time becomes space, and the whole space-time is acutally dragged around the black hole, becomes twisted around the black hole," Professor Thide explained. http://www.bbc.co.uk...onment-12434007
kaosmark2
I'd quite like to read the actual proper article as in Nature, rather than the bbc's version, but my subscription's finished

Ed209
(obviously still needs to go through the peer review process, but on the face of it .... ) love it. Einstein rules again

eFestivals
just as I told them months ago then. Who needs highly paid scientists? Just ask Neil.
Ed209
I'm surprised that the very prospect of anything being able to travel faster than light is .... errmmm ...... surprising... we still don't know what most of everything is... Ed209
Yeah, because Theoretical Physics has been hitting its head against a brick wall for the last 20 or 30 years. If it turned out to be true it would be the dawn of a whole new age of discovery for physicists. massive amounts of funding would be poured into it and keep everyone in their job. Hence the excitement
Kyelo
most of the scientists who were asked how they felt about the possibility of neutrinos travelling faster than light seemed genuinely excited.
eFestivals
Bloody useless scientists, they can't even tell the time properly. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17364682 Which only gets to show that the cock up was bleeding obvious from the very start, and those numpties were so wrapped up in the rest of it they didn't check the basics.
