Travel money

Heading to Amsterdam on Friday and just discovered my mate's got a bit of a predicament.

He gets paid on Friday and has no money until then, our flight is at 7.20am and he needs somewhere to get his money changed to euros.

I know from previous experience that the airport isn't really an option, as they charge too much for the exchange. Does anyone know any places in Amsterdam that would be a better bet?

using a debit card usually gives you the rate you'd get in a foreign exchange, plus a fee (£1 per transaction is fairly standard). So if you're using it to make lots of small payments the fees can really add up. Airports are usually not too bad you know because there's at least 2 or 3 doing foreign exchange so you get a decent price. I would just raid the english cash machine in the morning and go to a thomas cook or something either this side or when you get there.

Nal: not totally true
