glasses bottles at the gates?

They quite rightly take them off you, some may give you the chance to decant into a plastic bottle if you have one, don't expect the guys on the gate to provide them.

However please don't attempt to bring in any glass, it pointless, stupid and selfish.

Bit harsh mate. But yeah it's common sense to not take glass in (but the poster may not have been to a festival before).

What I don't understand is, they won't let you take in glass but it's fine to start fires!

But if you weren't searched what were you planning on doing with the glass once in the festival? Opened spirits don't spoil so it won't make a difference putting them in a plastic bottle at home or at the security gate, best off just decanting into mineral water bottles before heading off.

Pop bottles feel a bit more sturdy than water bottles.

To be fair, my first couple of Glastos, I willfully ignored the no-glass rule, on the grounds that I wouldn't break the bottle so it would do no harm. And indeed, that turned out to be the case.

But if 10,000 of us bring bottles, and 1% smash theirs by accident, that's still 100 broken bottles that cows can hurt themselves on, and decanting is so easy.

I'm decanting a nice bottle of Jura into an empty Sainsbury's Basics lemonade bottle tonight...
