Ok I went to kingston after worked, I looked in Millets saw no £19.99 jackets, then went to Superdry for 1st time in my life what an experience! I felt sooo old :( tried on coat I linked earlier, spoke to dude who's going to bestival... No likey yes pure fashion not rain proof just shower prove. So off to Cotswolds I went, Black Northern Rock Jackets where not in the sale..... Back to millets where I purchased......

http://shop.hellyhansen.com/GB/item/55851/?partner=6085&t_type=rvp

Right bargin was £100 down to £60 (I keep telling myself it's a bargin, Considering I'm not going to need said jacket)

So yes I must stop come on here and buying stuff!

P.s I got the female version not the man's, couldn't find females to link and also not on millets website :(

I used to have a jack-in-a-pack type which faired me well for a few years - but with the serious downpours the other year it just felt like the water was coming through - although was probably condensation - so I was wearing poncho over top for heavy downpours.

I then went out a couple of years ago and bought a Peter Storm lightweight rain jacket - it's lined to stop the condensation thing but it's still got a pocket it stuffs into which works quite well. Was around £30-40 I think and a good purchase (in fact that and my waterproof trousers are currently in the washing machine making sure they're clean and waterproof and ready!

And I tend to keep a poncho in my handbag - just in case of the unexpected!

Hey, I was at Download festival on Sun where it chucked it down for most of the afternoon so i'm making sure i'm all waterproofed up, not that i'm going to need them of course.

Just wondered if anyone has a Honchos Poncho - My link they do a waterproof one and wondered what they were like.

I picked up a drizabone style waxed stockmans coat/duster from the oxfam stall 2 years ago. It has done me proud in some shocking weather since. I will be taking it again (makes a good groundsheet as well).

Those rubbery ponchos/capes that Joe bananas used to sell, very good but bulky. Some think they are German, but the seem to be the same pattern as the old British ones (before the 58 pattern).

I tried one of these in 2007

Cosy camper sold em on site in the markets (not far from the bandstand).

OK,certainly worked in 2007 but to be honest, the fleece inner just attracts mud, so get a smaller size than you think you need. But makes a blooming lovely pillow when it is not needed.

I have a small lightweight raincoat which keeps the rain out but also nice to put over hoodie at night to keep the cold out as well as a pack a poncho and dare i say it....i even ordered a pair of waterproof trousers, although the weather seems to have settled since i bought them so fingers crossed they'll be a waste of money! :D

I also went to Download at the weekend and got drenched whilst wearing my North Face gore-tex jacket... it transpires that your meant to wash them at least twice a year or the membrane clogs up and it acts like a bin bag (i.e. I didn't get wet from the rain, but from yucky sweat!!)

Anyone know where I can pickup a properly waterproof but lightweight coat for a bargain price?

Got a good waterproof but it is more of a winter beast and will only be used in the night.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
