Hmm, my gut feeling is that if Pulp were playing, it would have definitely leaked by now, they're touring, they're back together, all the people in Pulp's camp know their plans, someone would have said something.

I agree that there's something odd about all of this. Personally I thought they were nailed on.

The general themes and thoughts here all seem correct; they're clearly using this tour to make cash, Glastonbury is obviously significant in the band's history and ME has said they're not playing and isn't one to lie.

I wouldn't rule out a special guest appearance, but neither do I think it's the most likely...

That always sounded to me like they tried to get them but were knocked back. Why would the same festival that booked The Verve in '08 and Blur in '09 not try to get Pulp this year? As much as it's nice to romanticise bands we like, chances are it's because they could make far more money from IOW/Wireless/Reading + Leeds/TITP than they could from Glastonbury. This reunion is solely about money-they're putting out less new material than the Verve or Blur-and while I hope I'm wrong, I strongly suspect that the prospect of big cheques from the other festivals has strongly overpowered any love they may have for the Big G

I still haven't given up hope of a Park appearance. There's still rumours, and the band and their crew are very good at keeping secrets. Even experts in the band had no idea they were reforming, and they'd been rehearsing for months before the announcement was made.
