The vast vast majority of Americans are very hardworking, honest and welcoming people. If my personal circumstances were different, I would move to the USA tomorrow. Amazing country with amazing people. Do you think they went from 0-60 in 200 years or so by sitting on their arses and being rude?

There are obviously some rude americans but I think what a lot of people (especially brits) mistake for rudeness is more likely to be a directness that we aren't used to.
