i love the snooker, im a big john higgins fan. i always enjoy the more tactical side of the play. coupled with the nervy frames you get at the end or even sumtimes at the start.

he was on for a Portion of Prawn Crackers with Gravy (a 147) and blew it. Odds were 33/1 for a max in this match..

tbh.. i`ve never really taken to him. Ability wise-- no question..but as a person...nah--always looks like he`s got a fish hook in his bottom lip, which is a clear sign of a non-trustworthy person imo.

Yeah used to love seeing Davis break his opponents down with some great safety. The master. But then came Hendry……

really enjoyed the fight back by mark allen this everning. think one of the team said he is suffering from depression.

(dont no why they need to tell us that) im sure after this win it will give him a big boost, iv have high hopes for him in the tournament.

Trump won the China Open about 2 weeks ago.

Robertson hasn't been in great form this year, and his win in the World Championship last year though obviously an achievement, wasn't particularly spectacular. He beat Fergal O'Brien, Martin Gould, Steve Davis, Ali Carter, and Graeme Dott. He didn't beat a Higgins, Williams, O'Sullivan, Selby etc.

As CBC says, Trump is in good form having won the China Open only a couple of weeks back.

It was a bit of a surprise, but hardly a shock, certainly not a huge shock.

Stevens doesn't seem to be someone who takes tragedy particularly well. He had a noticeable dip in form following his dad's death at the start of the decade, then again following Paul Hunter's death in 2006 - both of which came after he's got to World finals (Hunter was very close to Stevens - I remember Paul Hunter during the picture round on A Question Of Sport when the answer was Matthew Stevens and he said "thats my best friend").

On a similar subject, John Higgins entrance music is very poignant - Needles And Pins by the Searchers which is a bit of a sad song anyway. He used the same one during the Masters saying it was his dads, who wasn't there because he was ill, favourite song. John Higgins Snr. subsequently died in Februaury or March. I remember John Parrott crassly interupting him during his interview after winning the Masters to ask if he wanted to mention anyone who couldn't be there, at which point Higgins started to cry.

It was a very good match and when Allen got in the 'zone' and loosened up his cue arm he was really playing some nice flowing snooker - but Stevens gave him plenty of chances - Allen can't count on other opponents keep giving him chances like that. I felt sorry for Stevens though - he's never been the same since his Father died (i believe he was a massive influence upon his snooker). What I thought was interesting last night was when the commentary team would switch between frames to get Ken Docherty's view - because there's a bit of history/needle between Doherty and Allen going back a few years (started off as 'handbags' but it's never been resolved i don't think) and i wonder if the producers were going to Ken on purpose!!!

i remember just starting to watch snooker when i was 16 (2006) and seeing paul hunter play on t.v. what a brave man he was.. even the commentators were saying how ill he was. vergo telling us why he was having to stop between shots to warm up his hand with a cloth because of hes bad circulation, an when he was sat down he would always have to move hes feet. he had great hair aswell (before it when) if im right i think it looked abit like david beckams when he was a real madrid in a little hair band. never said die that man.
