Last year i bought a new Litchfield Cherokee 4 tent and found it ok but a bit of a pain to erect and haevy to carry. I have just sold it and am on th elookout for a replacment, i am going on my own this year and have been looking at the pop up tents, anyone have any views on the following

http://www.cinchpopuptents.co.uk/

They look ok to me, i know there three man,but are far lighter than my old Litchfield, and i need plenty of space. Quechua look another bet, although not easy to get hold of, i don't want to spend more than £80. Any advice appreciated.

personally I dont rate pop up tents, find them a bit crap in terms of quality and also tend to let water in a bit. Ive always gone with Vango tents, easy to put up, lightweight and watertight!

By contrast, I've found my last few Pop-up tents to be by some distance the best quality most waterproof tents I've used (a couple of Quechua models and a Vango Dart DS compared to various Gelert, Eurohike and the like Dome tents) and wouldn't even consider anything else.

The moral of the story? Shit tents are shit. A shit single skin Pop-up Tent is going to be awful, just as a cheap single skin Dome or Tunnel Tent will be.

As for the original post - no idea of the actual quality. It certainly says the right things - but personally I'd be more comfortable with something from the Quechua Seconds+ or Vango Dart DS/DLX ranges.

I have an old Quencha Air 2, Mine got damaged in the coach on the way down, so size of the disk would be a good consideration. However the ventilation was good.

That said:

Looks like the one you are looking at was designed by someone who actually goes camping, porch area for taking off muddy boots in, hanger for lamp opens both ends for air flow and a few other good features.

My main problem was the lack of porch, and the size packed up. Something more modern quencha and Vango dart series have tried to address (and those seem to be the best of the breed). However I'm still preferring domes and my old school lauvu/teepi style tent.

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
