Gas bottles/Canisters

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Basically is there any issues with taking the proper Calor gas bottles or the smaller gas canisters for use on cookers.

I'm going in a trailer tent on the CV field so I can't imagine there being problems maybe only in the tent fields, just wanted to double check.

Ta

oh its only 74 days to go!!

You will be fine with Calor gas, make sure you take a spare as never seen anyone selling it.

There's actually a calor gas supplier who drives around the markets each morning to sort out supplies for the traders, but who will also sort out (which the bigger refillable bottles, not the throw-away things) anyone else who flags him down. You'll of course need to have your own bottle to exchange for the full one.

However, I'm not sure how things might stand with carrying in your gas bottle thru the gates. The times I've used the markets supplier I've been in one of the crew areas inside the fence.

I now have a vision of someone carrying one up the Hill of Death!!

Thinking about it, I did that - in the only year I've ever parked that side of the site.

I was mistaken in my earlier memories - one of those years I was in public camping, so I must have carried the gas bottle in (and so out again) along with all of the rest of the camping kit.

I remember the journey in well - it was '97, it was absolutely tipping it down, and as my son was with us aged about 9 months, we had a HUGE tent, travel cot (:O), two-ring gas stove and all the stuff to sterilise bottles for him, and that gas bottle. Madness.

If you are taking a trailer tent or campervan it's worth making sure you've got a full bottle and possibly a spare. We have two for the trailer tent - one for cooking and one for the fridge.
