As a Sky Sports subscriber I am absolutely gutted to see Brundle is joining Sky. This whole thing is an utter farce. F1 should be on terrestrial TV IMHO.

I haven't looked into it but how does the above affect those on say Virgin, will they get the new channel?

F1 joins Sky for the money; Brundle joins Sky for the money. F! is all about money. Where's the surprise?

The people who will get the new channel are those prepared to pay for it. And then pay a lot more for the next season, and even more for the season after that.

With a bit of luck this is the deal that's going to screw Sky. :)

So with the exception of Belgium, Brazil and Britain (and maybe Singapore)... the shit races.

They're all shit races. It's not like much in the way of racing ever goes on. ;)

More so than the Prem, the one with the most money wins. They might as well be lining up pound notes and seeing which blows across the track the fastest.

Well, no, because that is a fail right there....

If it was a simple case of money matters Toyota would of won multiple world titles...

except of course there's a big difference to being at the back with a fat wallet to already being at the front with one.

As proven by Brawn, who had fuck all money but did have the previous year's Honda funded development.

Honda where not at the front.... But he did get a big sack of money... The season before Brawn took over Honda finished 9th out of 11.

At Mercedes he has similar levels of money, his fantastic brain and more resources and they where not very good this season. Money is a factor. Without it you can not do anything in F1. But having it does not grantee anything.

You would imagine a rumoured budget of £400 million every season,Toyota and Honda should of been capable of winning a World Title between them. Neither of them got close. Which shows money guarantees nothing in F1. It is just an enabler.

 ... Honda got so close their cash won it ... just not under their name. The car that Brawn won with was built with that Honda cash.

God your a dead head...

Honda cash without Brawn.... 11th

Honda cash with Brawn.... 1st

Join the dots... Its not the money... Its the people

except of course, Honda had Ross Brawn working for them when the team was Honda.

Honda funded the success that that team had after it had changed its name to Brawn. Ross Brawn and that team would not have had that success without Honda's money which paid for the car they won with.

First of all... You really think Brawn was allowed to do everything he was allowed to do as owner ? If so you might have a point... But you haven;t...

I have a point.

And that point is that the team Brawn only got to win because they had the car which cost the most amount of money to develop, development that was all paid for by Honda before they quit.

And guess what? Ross Brawn didn't have a huge amount of involvement with the development of that car, because a significant amount of that development had been done before he joined the Honda team, and much of his time after joining was taken up with running the Honda team thru the 2008 season.

It was Honda and their huge piles of cash that won it for the Brawn team, and not Ross Brawn (tho I'm not trying to say that Ross Brawn had nothing to do with things).

Renault

Ferrari

McLaren

Mercideis

Red Bull

All defo have the resources to win a World Title. And their may even be more if it wasn't all so secret.

Renault defo don't (for the last few seasons, anyway) - they're skint.

I'm not entirely sure if they'll have extra funds after the team name change for next season. My guess is that they don't, because as far as I'm aware their funding for next year is around the same level as it's been this year - too low to win.

Oh yeah... You was going to come back and prove me wrong about that one wasn't you buy showing off your numbers... You never came back :)

That's what you get for using the guy down the pub to organise your mortgage :)

I posted the details yesterday. Details that prove you absolutely wrong, because you were commenting on something where you didn't know the facts - exactly as I'd said you were.

I don't like F1 moving to Sky but I have to say they seem to be making a decent fist of things so far. Confirmed they'll be no in race ad breaks, and signed up David Croft and Martin Brundle as their commentary team as well as Ted Kravitz.

Natalie Pinkham and good old Georgie Thompson will make F1 even more pleasant on the eye too...

  • 1 month later...

Sky F1 channel will be available to VM customers, but only if they have the Sky Sports Complete Package and it won't be available in HD either.

So that's £22.50 per month for the package to watch it in SD..

That's going to upset a few more people.

Am not a big F1 fan, so will just watch on the BBC and stream any other races Sky have that I want to watch.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
