Who wants thing to fit the mould? Expand the festivals horizons, break out into other genres and welcome some music diversity, not the dance group, not sure people are ready for that yet.

NME type bands? Hip-Hop has been on the cover of that awful publication countless times, as have pop acts such as Gaga (i think).

True, actually Kanye and Jay Z have probably been on the cover themselves, so Ive kind of pissed on my own arguement with that. What I meant by NME type bands was like Oasis, Kasabian, The Strokes, New Order.

I dont think it needs diversity. Theres nothing wrong with having a target market. Id rather it have basically the same lineup every year but know what im getting. If they diversify the lineup then they should release the lineup before tickets go on sale.

Either Jay Z/Kanye West or Linkin Park are my guesses for 3rd headliner, i'm leaning towards Jay Z and Kanye atm because i reckon they might have them on a UK Festival exclusive, if not them then Linkin Park, the only thing that is leaning me away from JZ&K is that they have just announced a tour, but still think they will be the 3rd headliner.

If jayz and kanye played leeds i would be so disappointed, we don't want this festival to turn into wireless or glasto, this is a rock festival some old school rap is acceptable but there should never be a hip hop headliner.

Have you ever actually listened to him? No offence, but you're coming across a bit ignorant. Strange to be okay with Jay-Z, and have such a strong dislike for Kanye.

Do you only like Jay for the rock connection with Linkin Park or are you still mad Kanye upset Taylor Swift ;)

Stop being so small-minded and don't slate Glasto if you've never been (I assume you haven't otherwise you wouldn't slate it). There have been hip-hop headliners in the past (Eminem) so it won't be a new thing and it's not like 1 hip-hop headliner would make a complete shift in the aim of the festival when you've also got 2 very popular Rock/Indie headliners in Foos and Kasabian.

Anyway, I don't know why I've allowed myself to be drawn into this debate because I'm very sure they won't headline on the basis of the 7 other UK dates taking away so many potential day ticket sales. It would be more feasible if they hadn't announced more dates on top of the original 3, but doing that suggests to me that they have no other plans for the UK this year.

eminem is completely different too any other rapper ever and can be enjoyed by almost everyone well his earlier stuff. i didnt slate glasto or wireless all i am saying is what is the point in all the festivals been the same plus we get jay z this year next we get beyonce i dont think leeds fans want to go in that direction. but then again fans of this festival are not the same as they used to be

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
