Well as per usual it's a shambles. I'm not fussed about the lack of an anouncement, it's more the lack of communication. With mediums like Facebook and Twitter information should almost be instant yet we get none until it's too late. Fair enough if they don't have any info but they could at least say that and apologise instead of ignoring the problem and hoping it will go away.

I still can't wait for Rockness and i know i will have an amazing weekend but if the festival wants to be a big player then the organisers need to pull the finger out as some aspects are at best a shambles

I have to agree with a lot that has already been said.

The problem isn't so much that there has been no announcement, although given how late its getting it is becoming more of an issue, for me the problem is that people are expecting one and been led to expect one from rockness and not got it or any new information.

Now, i fully understand that this stuff happens and I understand a lot of the reasons for it. I believe that it is the issues that are always the issues that are responsible for the lack of an announcement. But, from where I'm sitting it seems people are thinking its the boy who cried wolf. This (announcements not arriving when promised) appears to be a perennial problem with rockness, but due to this people start to see reasons other than those that are used to explain the problems. Again, I understand that it is unprofessional for rockness to talk about bookings but it shouldn't be left to Paul TM to explain the issues on this message board.

The solution for me, which they actually did to an extent last year with the vampire weekend announcement and this year with the subclub, is to release the information that they have that will be a talking point.

People don't need to have a massive release all the time but tbh, at the moment 11 acts announced for a saturday with 10 weeks to go, if they could even put 3 confirmed out by now, it might make it look a bit better.

i see all the usual moaners are getting their knickers in a twist.

it is a wee bit annoying hearing stuff about announcements being made and then it doesn't happen. but it's always been like this and we all expect it.

it's just over 2 months away now anyway so we'll have the full line up soon enough.

Has there actually been anything official stating that there was supposed to be an announcement last week? The Rockness Facebook thing may have mentioned it, but I don't think that's the official Facebook page, rather it's just someone's vehicle for putting out those irritating student discount codes (although I could be wrong on that?). I know that there are people who mentioned on here that they had heard that the announcement was going to be on this day or that day, but that's no the same as an official proclamation. Whilst I don't doubt that the folks here who mentioned what they had heard were telling the truth, an "I heard from a contact close to the Rockness team that it's going to be on x-day" isn't the same as Jim King or someone else from Rockness coming out and publicly declaring that it'll be on a given day.

I agree with what some folks have suggested though, it would probably have been better to release confirmation of acts as and when the deals were done and dusted, rather than, as is probably happening now, holding off on making a big collective announcement because the agents of one or two of the acts are dragging their heels on letting them get the news out.

Official Rockness Facebook which is administerd by Rosie (who also posts here) is where the Q&A session that Jim King done back at the end of February. During that, he stated that the next announcement would be out before the end of March and stage by stage not long after.

Also they announced on the Facebook page that it was coming last week..

They should just announce that its' been delayed, and why.. and give people an idea of when it is likely to be.. either that or not say anything and just have everyone asking when it is anyway

    • f**king horrendous and seems they couldn’t run an egg and spoon race.  zero info and the crush waiting to get in to see Massive Attack was potentially disasterous. Zero info, no stewards at all and was told that the whole evening was cancelled, when we got to the exit. Because it rained. First time attendee and i’ve got onsay, i’m far from impressed. Scalping bastard taxis asking €37 plus for an €11 fare too. Wonderdul.
    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
