When I think about Muse's music, I imagine myself standing in a bedroom with headphones on and their music playing, all the while thinking to myself how great it would be if I could disguise the awful sound I was torturing myself with by plugging a whole rack of strobe lights, lasers and fog machines into my wall and setting them all off at the same time until my neighbours came around and batter down my door begging me to stop because their daughter has epilepsy and my bedroom-based Jean Michel Jarre tribute has driven her to the point of suicide.

The last time I was amazed by flashing lights was when I was about 15 and first took some LSD. That was truly f**king extraordinary - I tried to climb into my own shoe. Muse? They just use it as a way to disguise mediocrity and utterly soulless pretentious cock rock.

Dave H..you have a personal opinion & I can understand it. BUt Muse are belting live and i would love to see them at Reading...I would also love to see NIN, REM, Radiohead, 'Tallica, QOTSA, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Deftones, et al. But that is'nt going to happen so I'll go with the flow, as you have to with a fest.

Muse are too safe...Strokes are too risky as their quality has dropped...MCR are too risky as they aren't popular enough...there are very few potential headliners that won't have these accusations thrown at them and if they aren't available then at least we haven't got three safe, over-exposed headliners or three headliners who polarise opinion like MCR will.

Booking Muse allows them to take a bit of risk elsewhere in the line-up. I'm personally a big fan of their live shows - and their Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Royal Albert Hall a few years ago without all of the bells and whistles of a typical Muse show is still one of the best gigs I've ever been to. They'll attract a huge number of fans - even more so if R&L has got them as a European exclusive as they're hugely popular on the continent.

No I did grow up with Muse, unfortunately. I said ages ago that my first experience with them was watching a video of theirs on MTV's Monday Night Rock Show in about 1999 - Muscle Museum. At the time I was massively into Metal and the show had nothing on it but bands like Soundgarden, White Zombie, At The Gates, Faith No More, Alice In Chains... and then suddenly came this arsehole w*nk of a band with this singer; a skeleton made up of the bones of every dead twat rock star that ever existed trying his best to warble his way through his best Jeff Buckley impression, and I've resented them ever since.

They're the polar opposite of everything I love about music. I used to have faith in humanity before Muse packed out Wembley -- terrorists aren't clever enough to blow up that 'event'. They have to hide grenades in crisp packets and put them on buses.

    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
