Would you care to enlighten me on the value of your average soap? bubblegum for the eyes is all it is. read a book for f**ks sake, or watch something that might broaden the mind. And please please please learn how to spell ridiculous. (sorry, I'm not normally a grammar/spelling nazi, but rediculous really gets my f**king goat I'm afraid)

The only reason I commented was because I was surprised to learn that ye olde den watches such tripe. Call me a snob, call me the "high horse brigade", but I will never, ever change my mind on how f**king vacuous soap operas are, and I dont deem people who watch them to be inferior, I just wish they would wake up and realise that if people didnt watch that kind of shite, they would have to put something of value on the tellybox.

how many hours per week are wasted on watching soaps and reality shows? it frightens me to think about it.

If I was a Research student--- I could maybe have penned a reply like that.

But I`m not.. so I will stick to my rediculous musings.

I`ve gave you a +1 though--so if you ever want a relationship if yer bust up with you lass....... ;)

Yes... that was a rediculous thing for me to put.den

Far too many people sit on their arse addicted to watching every episode of Dancing On Ice, Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Strictly Come Dancing.

Are they deemed unhealthy and pointless and quickly demonised for their addictive tendencies? Do they get Panorama specials dedicated to investigating the mass of vegetables that dedicate themselves to a daily dose of brain drain?

And the media has the gall to single out videogames for the exact same thing.........

I tend to end up knowing whats going on in the soaps because it's on TV via other people's choice, and since I like to sit in the room with the comfy chairs, that also tends to be where the TV is, and so I absorb it in a similar way to passive smoking I guess - I get a lungfull of it every now and then. The whole thing with the baby-swap in Eastenders is a hilarious concept worthy of a Jam sketch. The whole thing is retarded.

You can't be including Rita in that! These are characters who have all had there past glory storylines and its now time for them to blend in till its time to kill them off peacefully afterall it may mean less airtime of such things as sally and tyrone kissing, it almost made me bring my dinner back up!

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
