You right, punk is a gernre of music and nothing else. I always laugh when people bang on about well that band is more punk than that band. The point of punk was a DIY ethic so to conform to the standards of what is punk is pointless in itself. If you look at some of the great Punk bands like Crass (friendly with Hippies), Minor Threat (wrote racist songs), The Clash (signed to a major label), Stiff Little Fingers (reformed soley for quick cash) and so on are hypocritcs to conformed idea of what is punk, just take it for what it is and nothing more.

I always though Big D & The Kids Table summed it up nicely...

"In the scene I stand, I'm surrounded by a book

A list of things I'm not, rebellion models think I should

Be what they are, what they want me to be

Now what the f**k is that, would you accept me? Me? No!"

  • 1 month later...

It was about 2 years ago as they wanted to play the Astoria before it was torn down, they haven't even toured the last album over here.

On a side note Matt Freeman's side project Devil's Brigade are playing over here next month, I've got tixs but haven't bothered checking out if the band is any good yet.

Ahahahahahaha. No.

Dropkicks will be on mainstage. Possibally a double set with lockup.

2010 - Gogol Bordello

2008 - Dropkick Murphys

2007 - Gogol BOrdello

2006 - Flogging Molly

2005 - Dropkick Murphys

2004 - Dropkick Murphys

For the past 6 years there has been an Irish/gypsy style band on mainstage. I cant see this changing. Its a good way to break up the day a bit. I'd also argue dropkicks are more of a family band than other lockup headliners, I cant see a standard family with day tickets being crushed into a tent to see a fairly mainstream band?

    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
    • Proper loser behaviour wearing a tee like that. Me and my mate play a game every year called ‘Boomer Tees’ and there’s some gems every time.
