Musical Integrity

Take That just wouldn't be allowed to write songs about the holocaust, or serial killers, or socialism ... but I don't know if they lack integrity? They just haven't a clue about any of that, Sing a pretty song, make a pretty penny. Shite. Empty, soulless, pointless shite. Its un-art.

I remember when Take That were popular the first time round, and my wife and daughter loved them. I was talking to one of my friends, and he laughed mockingly, saying they do synchronised dancing, and I said yea, like The Temptations did

and he looked a little quizzically at me, and said I must be mad to compare Take That with The Temptations, so I suggested he found a better reason why he doesn't like them

why?

what I like and 'look' for in music is what I have defined, and you'd only disagree or try and (possibly) pick holes in my reasons

ok... keeping it as loose as possible. I like to hear that the artist in some means what they say. I like to hear that there is an idea of some kind going on, and they have an idea of how to put that across. I like a good feel/groove, I like some originality (sometimes), I like some musicianship (sometimes)... some of those things are parta of its integrity... wometime not though.

There is loads of music that fits those definitions that I don't like though...

indeed...

I was just pointing out a flaw in his argument

The Temptations were shit dnacers too. I hate watching their old clips, and it totally detracts from the song....

it's a great song, a great singer(s), but I mean, really, look at it!!!

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
