Suggestions/Ideas for 2011

Guest Paul ™

Folks you all know Jim King reads these forums, and takes time out of his busy schedule to answer questions on the run up to the festival.

So let's hear your ideas, suggestions etc for 2011... please keep the requests for acts to play to another thread, this is aimed at site issues, ticketing, layout etc

Get the site ready before people start arriving.

Arriving to practically what was a building site lead to the arrival part being quite an anti climax. Preacherman was very unimpressed when we arrived.

Decoration in the main tents would add to the event.More lighting in it would be cool as well.

as above ^^^^

Think it would be quite cool to have a celeidh tent in it's own right and have another line up on the friday in what wud be the annie mac/soulwax tent this year (toolroom knights wud be nice ;p)

Agree about decoration in tents & bigger/better lighting rigs for the tents, it's mainly a dance festival & part of the thrill of tht whole scene is the audio visual combination, agree about it being darker in tent to get the lights as well.

better sniffer dogs at the entrance that don't stop at you when all u have on you is painkillers...

A return to the enclosed Argylle Market of 08 would be great but I realise this may well be jus down to space issues.

Perhaps an afterhours cinema tent either in the campsite or in the arena, I know most Rocknessians want to party all night but it would be good to have somewhere just to chill out late at night.

Also - I think letting people arrive on Thursday night is a good idea. It would attract people that have to travel further. Just have the Carling Bar open, a normal bar and the cinema or whatever and you're sorted. I'd love to be at RockNess from Thursday - Monday. Makes the 3 hour journey more worth while too.

Poleski - that may detract from the Thurday night in Inverness, which I have to admit was one of the best nights out I had all year. Loadsa wee bands playing, which encouraged me to go along to the go north and also tell others about bands I'd seen there. I'd sacrifice thursday camping for that, and it makes it a little bit different for me.

Agreed, the Thursday night in Inverness the past 2 years has been great :)

I don't think another days disruption for the locals of Dores is something Jim wants anyway, he has already stated that the Friday won't be a full day due to this.

Agreed, cash bars are far better.. means prices aren't set rigid so more choice/range of drinks.

Maybe just more bar staff on the till side of things.

And can we have some real proper cider this year Jim? After you saying last year there would be and all there was available was Strongbow :P;)

if there had't been black isle last year i wouldnt have bought a single drink! strongbow and carling is just not acceptable as a choice of drink. get the real ales on all the bars! lucky its such a small site so easy to go back to the pub tent to get them but still. and +1 for real cider too, if you can do real ale...

on a separate but similar point, please endeavour to get more higher quality food vendors on site. standard burger vans and the like just dont cut it. an expansion of argyll would be great too.

    • I had a great time yesterday and came to the conclusion that everytime (or, more accurately, both times) I didn't have a great time at Primavera, it was water-related. Either there was too much of it (Thursday 2026) or there wasn't enough (Thursday 2022, week 1).
    • I sacrificed the first hour of the cure for Role model yesterday and oh man that was a good bet! That guy and his band are insanely good and an hour long only bangers!

    • Possibly not as there are chair size restrictions in the seated area, for the guidelines see here -  https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/bring   Have a look into applying for Access and I would recommend contacting them for further advice before buying a ticket - https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access  They should also be able to answer if you can take a wheelchair into the seated area 🙂
