Comic Books

It'll be turned into a Pratchett parody, and while Good Omens was amazing (my favourite book) and shows stylistically the two writers have common ground, and is begging to be made into a film, and while the Pratchett telly adaptations I've seen have captured the Discworld feel nicely enough, I just don't think this would fit with the Endless.

Sandman should be terrifying, fantastic, mind-boggling, disturbing, warped, funny, heart-breaking, thought-provoking and bloody expensive to make, just like the comics (except for the expensive bit I think), but I fear Warner Bros will tone it down and turn it into a bloody kids cartoon or something.

Grump.

Agreed, although I've always thought that 'Weaveworld' would also make an excellent film, I loved the comicbooks of both that and 'The Great And Secret Show' and both could just be transposed to film - and then never get through the censors! :D

For that reason too, any Sandman film will be rubbish.

Comic book or film?

If it's comic I'm not surprised. The comics just seem to get more outlandish and more insane every year.

Comic, Grant Morrison is writing it. Basicaly, once Bruce Wayne has returned from the past Dick Grayson will stay as Batman for Gotham and Bruce will go around the world teaching people how to be Batman for their city. I think the arc is dubbed Batman Inc.

I like Grant's work but this sounds fishy to me.

I spent some time yesterday reminding myself how terrible Rob Liefeld is as an artist.

He can't draw feet.

He can't draw women.

He can't draw feet.

liefeldbill24xm2.jpg

He draws male characters so big that they're anatomically impossible. Look at how f**king big Cable's arm is.

Gotta multi-post this one due to the sheer number of shit pieces of art.

He has no understanding of bodily proportions. And he can't draw feet.

cable2as9.jpg

He hides parts of the body he can't be arsed to draw.

sstarak6.jpg

He has no understanding of bodily proportions (check out Cable's leg), can't draw anyone holding something like normal (check out Shatterstar's hand). AND HE CAN'T DRAW FEET.

cable11eb3.jpg

All women drawn by Liefeld stand like this. Seriously.

cable3zz2.jpg

I'm going to post this one again, just because it has everything.

liefeldbill24xm2.jpg

A whole list of why he's a terrible person can be found here and elsewhere on the net.

His work looks like a bad version Ian Gibson (who also couldn't do feet too well) but drew Tornado's Mind Of Wolfie Smith, and of course Halo Jones

I havent read anything by Liefeld in years. His art stinks. He did create Cable though - a maligned character sure, but I'm a fan.

Whats more of an issue for me is tracing. That git Greg Land for example. His work is the pits.

I herd that, he suppose to be playing Venom. Which just seems to soon to put him into the 1st flick.

Have heard it could be Goblin or Lizard he's playing as well. Guess we will just need to wait and see I guess

It's been confirmed now that it's the Lizard, much better than Venom.

And the prick Tom Hardy has been cast as a baddie in Batman 3.

Link for both?

I f**king love tom hardy. Pretty sure I said in the film thread that I would love him to play the villain in Batman 3 after watching inception :)

EDIT: never mind, just found it on AICN

I've met Tom Hardy a few times and he's complete dick, shame as he is a f**king good actor though.

Filming for Judge Dredd with Karl Urban starts in six weeks, on 15 November and will be completed by the end of February 2011. I'm optimistic that it will be a decent take on Stoney.

Edited to add: although it will be in native 3D - hmmm less impressed.

From what they are saying it could be a mixed bag, they say he's not going to remove his helmet which shows they making a serious attempt at the character but memories of Spiderman 1 pop into my head where it looked like toys were talking to each other. I do like the idea of it being just another day in the force as opposed to some big epic story arc.

Karl Urban is an excellent choice, thought he was the best thing in the new Star Trek flick.

    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
