Lightning Seeds on the Avalon stage

Had seen the last couple of songs of the Lightning Seeds on the Pyramid stage, looked a little flat. Was anyone else at their headline slot on the Avalon stage?

Great crowd, Ian Broudie on top form and a pretty much spot on setlist packed full of the hits. Been listening to the greatest hits again and clicked how good a pop songwriter he always was.

Who else was there, did you enjoy yourselves?

i got forced to go as didnt want to but at the end of the set wanted more, thought it was so good. The end was cool were everyone kept 3 lions going on there own after the avalon pa guy come on after Broudie left stage.

We absolutely loved it! I have always loved Life of Reilly but I'd forgotten how many other tunes of theirs I liked too.

My only complaint would be that the singalong for 3 Lions was so amazingly rousing that they had the whole tent believing we were going to do it! The bastards!

An absolutely blinding set - one of the highlights of the festival, along with The Beat in Blazing Saddles on Sunday afternoon. The sound was spot on, the set list all classics, the crowd amazing and the atmosphere top. So glad I chose to go there rather than the original plan of seeing them on the Pyramid. On this note I must thank Damon Albarn for putting on such a shit show that I got to see The XX in The Park on Friday night instead of John Peel on Saturday.

Love the Lightning Seeds, loads of great songs. Wasn't quite right on the Pyramid. Not sure why he did an acoustic version o Marvellous. Pleased to hear they nailed it on Avalon.

3 lions was one of the biggest disappointments of my weekend. I knows its bad but I was at the pyramid to hear their awful rendition of it.

Made it worse to know that the one they did on the 2nd set was awesome.

Avoided their set at the Pyramid as I knew I was going to watch them at Avalon and they were excellent.

Brodie clearly wasnt happy with the sound guys but he seemed to be well into it by the end, and that rendition of 3 lions at the end? well I text my mates that I believed we could do it again after hearing that with everyone singing it as the compere tried to get us to move on!....got my hopes up!

That was my 2nd best gig of the weekend, so f**king great having everyone singing every word to every song at the top of their lungs, you could see Ian was having a great time! I thought they were great on the Pyramid too, everyone around me was well into it!

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
