Finished my packing and found that my 65l rucksack weighs the same as a small family car, tent strapped to bottom, mat strapped to top, espresso maker and kettle strapped to the font, clothes, bag, and booze inside. Tried putting it on my back, toppled backwards, and made a huge black mark down the wall... ooops, I'll be popular later when t'other half gets home :-S

So serious question - how cold does it get at night? I've only packed a tshirt every day plus one hoody, got a v-thin waterproof jacket as well.

Enough?

So ever since I've taken a bag of carrots to every festival. At Reading last year I did manage to work my way through the whole 1kg over the course of the week, but even if I don't get through them all it doesn't matter. Carrots are cheap (Only £1 for all those carrots!!!), last ages and can always cook with them when I get back.

EDIT: Just checked my receipt... apparently I have 1.35kg of carrots :D I should set up a stall

tut.tut.tut. You can bring as many carrots in to the festival as you like providing they're for personal use ... but I'm sure that they'll be confiscated if found by security if you appear to have intent to supply and all that :P

Expects to be hearing 'unusual' cries of "three fur a fiver 50p" around the site this year and seeing *very* confused punters looking for the ring-pull

Carrots are amazing. At Reading 5 years ago I ended up wrecked on cider and whiskey, and way too hungover to eat anything. So I slowly worked my way through all the food I had and couldn't keep anything down. Then I got to the carrots and found they're the greatest hangover food ever! They're dry and don't have an overly strong taste/smell, but they have quite a bit of water in them for hydration.

I'd be alright if I didn't have to take the massive thick jumper to keep me warm when bimbling at 4am. Takes up half the rucksack space but if I don't take it I end up buying one because being cold makes me miserable. And then I have to bring it back with me anyway. And then there's the wellies, and the waterproofs, the fleece hat and the excessive amount of baby wipes. And that's before I've even started on the girly stuff. Pft.

And dude who's talking about taking a storage tent, please don't. Space is really short as it is. My friend brings her wheelbarrow every year. Goes straight in the lock ups until 6am Monday morning.

Not packed yet, though I believe I have everything ready to go in the ruck sack. I'm just going over in my head what to carry on the first trip from the car to Pennards and what to go back to the car for later.

I'm thinking 1st trip:

Tents x 2 (mine and a mates tent)

air mattress

sleeping bag

camping chair

flag pole and flag

chill box with cans cider B)

2nd trip:

the rest of my gear.

I'd love to take a sack trolley of some description but sadly my little MX5 is rather limited on space. I'll be squeezing what I have into it as it is. I carried everything in 1 hit last year. But I nearly killed myself, well, my arms we're at least 3 inches longer by the time I collapsed in Pennards lol

Can any of the good efestivalers help me? I've packed and everything but I don't know if I've gone with the right type of bag. I've got a holdall, which I know isn't very festivaly but I've got everything in it, however it is heavy. Do you reckon it's better to stick with this, or to get a proper rucksack like you all had prepared earlier? Appreciated.

If ya can afford it, I'd go rucksack. I've always been to festivals with one, but have been with people who have taken holdalls - my ex girlriend's at Download '06 was a f**kING NIGHTMARE. Still, someone I know who's going says their friend is taking a suitcase with wheels - madness surely?!
