It's mightily impressive - tho of course helped by him managing such dominant teams for all of that time.

I know that Liverpool had a very long unbeaten home run back around the eighties, and have just tried googling for it, and found:-

"Longest unbeaten run at home: 85 matches (all competitions between Jan 1978-Jan 1981)"

But that's longer ago than I was thinking, so perhaps there's another fairly impressive stat for just league matches or something (rather than 'all competitions') from more recently (later in the eighties) which I was thinking of.

aye, you're no gonna do that with a mid table team. but it's still one hell of a record. especially with 4 different teams when some managers take some time to bed in.

all the teams he's managed in that time have either been the number 1 team in that league, or the 2nd team but a 2nd team very close to the 1st team and some way ahead of the 3rd team. Two of those teams have been in what is generally regarded from the UK as two-team leagues.

(that record is only for league matches, don't forget).

So within that, while I'm not trying to suggest it's an easy achievement, it's not necessarily been incredibly difficult either - particularly for a manager who tends to have 'defence first' as his main tactic.

All the same, it IS impressive.
