I've encountered sniffer dogs at castle cary on two occasions since 2003 when arriving on the Wednesday- I didn't see any in 2008 or 2009, but they might have hauled them out at random times after I'd passed through. 2007 was quite bad though- I remember a giant pile of socks forming as people threw them out of their bags (it appears hiding stuff in a ball of socks is themost popular technique! So my tip is don't hide it there- it's the first place they'll look! Also in a ciggarette packet is also a common mistake).

However on a more serious note I remember one poor lad had the dog stop at his feet, and he completely lost it when the police asked him to go to be searched- he started crying and asked to speak to a lawyer- I still feel really sorry for him. Another man who told me he was carrying something was also singled out by the dog and taken to the shed to be searched- he said it was a very half arsed search and they stopped looking after he told them he didn't have anything.

So it is a risky business, and it's something you'll have to weigh up and decide for yourself- it's not a science- some years they seem to be more zealous than others, you might encounter sniffer dogs or you might not, they might smell it, they might not, it might be a half arsed search it might be more thorough. But I think it's misleading of people to say there's no chance just because they haven't encountered it.

Good luck!

Try this:

1) Hide your main stash extremely well, be creative.

2) Also keep a small amount of stash only very slightly hidden. This is your sacrificial stash. When the dogs sniff you or you get searched then give this stash up.

Job done.

my mate got caught with some shrooms last year. the bloke just called him a silly boy and put them in the bin.

i think as a general rule, if you are reasonable then they will be reasonable too. if you're taking the mick (e.g. you are carrying a large quantity, particular class A's or lie to them) expect, at worse, to lose your wristband. or if you've been really silly, get handed over to the police.

at the end of the day, everyone does it (sic). they know that, so if you're going to play with fire, make sure you don't get burned.

Oh yeah are there stalls on the site that sell fags? Would they be willing to sell some to a 16 year old? :S

I don't think people should read this thread it'll only scare them.

Just don't take ANY risks whatsoever (well, by that I mean leave nothing to chance, taking drugs there is obviously a risk in itself). Just make sure you've hidden them to the absolute best of your ability. Law of averages suggests noone will give you a second glance but if they do, you want to be sure that they're unlikely to find them.

Good luck soldiers, see you on the other side.

The other year got chatting to a girl who met up with one of my mates at Queens Head on the Thursday

He had warned her not to stop at services on M5 and to hide everything

Anyway she did and a copper knocked on her window , knew she was going to Glasto and asked

if she had any drugs , when she said no , he asked if she could be searched.

Now she had 50 pills in her hand bag and started to look nervouus.

When the copper said " you look really nervous ! "

She replied " I am not really looking forward to the camping or the toilets and although I promised

my b/f I would not start smoking again , I have bought loads of fags and done 5 already ! "

Copper let her on her way !

Friend of mine got searched last year and had made the mistake of simply stashing an ounce of weed on top of his stuff in his bag. This had the obvious drawback of making it the first thing anybody would see on opening his bag.

His face was an absolute picture when he had it confiscated but he was allowed in minus the weed after a brief ticking off from the steward. I think the bollocking was more for not owning up to them in the first place than the actual possession though.
