As long as there a big "heavy" acts to headline I'm pretty sure you'll get a heavier day but they can't exactly have Korn play below Kasabian so if there aren't any big rock acts then the festival changes and acts are more spread out like last year.

I didn't think 2009 was that bad a line up in hindsight, 3 big headliners (although I only like 1, take the other with a pinch of salt and bored of the last), 2 Download headliners not headlining, an excellent bill on the Lock Up (despite crap headliners), Prodigy and a better mix than usual on the main & nme stage.

If festival republic had the balls to lay their cards down and gamble

on a mainstream lineup going alternative/cult then I think the festival will

regain some respect

Friday

The White Stripes

Soundgarden

Sonic Youth

Placebo

Dinosaur Jr

Modest Mouse

Beach House

Manchester Orchaestra

The Virgins

Saturday

Foo Fighters

Florence and the machine

Vampire Weekend

Tv on the radio

Friendly Fires

White Lies

Sunday

Green Day

The Beastie Boys

Korn

Wu- Tang Clan

Good Charlotte

Funeral For a friend

Brand New

Young Guns

Parkway Drive

Four Year Strong

Yes the Headliners May be recycled but if i saw this line - up I would take my hat off to the FR crew

Upsides

All bands on top of the bill would be amazing

Downsides

In an ideal world Sonic Youth will be on top of the bill on sunday night

But hey I was being realistic

When you put it like that, and throw in the surprise TCV appearance, 2009 certainly wasn't bad at all. There was no strength in depth to last years lineup though, I often found myself just chilling at the tent because there was nothing I fancied seeing. Though Arcade Fire apart, the headliners weren't as good for me this year, there was a lot more throughout the day that appealed to me.

see i did not get the fuss over TCV. Saw them, was very excited like everyone else, bought into the hype, and thought they were shite. The gig was dull, the album was dull, everything about them was dull.... Except for the members. Which people still seem to think is the only thing needed to make a decent band.
