Editors and The National

[let's 'ave it!!!]

Just a few questions regarding the above bands...

1. would it be possible to see Editors AND Muse? acording to clashfinder there's not much time between Editors finishing on the Other stage and Muse starting on the Pyramid.

2. The National, I keep reading rave reviews about this band, and wanna have a listen to what they're all about, any recomendations where to start?

2. in my opinion, Alligator is their best album, but Boxer is probably a better way to ease you in. Tell you what, go to their myspace and listen to Secret Meeting, All The Wine and Fake Empire. Then listen to the rest. Then fall in love and download everything they've ever recorded

Realistically if you want to get a good spot for Muse you're going to have to miss most of editors. If you're happy to be back by the sound desk then just leave a few songs before the end (although personally I always find that quite unsatisfying.)

The National are an incredible band. Start with Boxer, then Alligator but make sure you also listen to their new record High Violet which is just as good as the other two in my opinion.

I was by the sound desk for Blur last year and had a great time. Good spot, sound was great, big screen nearby, near enough to pick out the band on stage but far enough away that you had room to dance and bounce about. Thinking that will be my spot for Muse too. Probably give Editors a miss this time around seeing as they appear to have forgotten where their guitars are, but the National are a must-see.

2. As has been said above, new album, High Violet is out today & well worth a listen. Check out the first single Bloodbuzz Ohio, just superb. They are the biggest 'must-see' of the weekend for me

The editors and muse are utter dung. Avoid.

I assume Editors will clash with most of Laura Marling - I'll need to check out their most recent albums and take a view before seeing Midlake. Editors are normally very good live (but I've seen them 3 times I think) but I've hardly listened to their 3rd album.

The National were absolutely amazing at the Royal Albert Hall last Thursday. Really wish I was down in the Stalls (although everyone stood from the 3rd song onwards) instead of a tiny 2nd tier box but the performance was brilliant, as was the sound mix despite some negative comments about the RAH. I'm expecting them to be a highlight of the weekend. I'd recommend listening to Boxer/High Violet first, then Alligator and if you like those Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers and Cherry Tree are great too.

I've listened to High Violet about 10 times now - it's easily as good as Boxer. Alligator isn't exactly far behind either. Has anyone listened to their debut?

I'd pretty much go with that. Boxer is my favourite but the other 2 are definitely not far behind. I couldnt really choose between high violet and alligator. High Violet will only get better with more listens I agree. I do like their other albums but for me they are inferior to the 3 mentioned here.

I am really really looking forward to them, I just hope the other stage isnt too big for their sound.

Just listened to High Violet there on SoundCloud (should be studying!) - f**king hell it's a top album..they are now in my top 5 must see now!

I think the Nationals first two albums are okay, but not great- however I really like the EP they did after them- 'Cherry Tree'- I like every song on that disc. Hmm... I think Alligator is probably easier to get into than Boxer is for a first time listener- Although i love Boxer now, I remember feeling quite disappointed when i heard Boxer for the first time, and it took me months to get into!

The lead singer has soooo much energy, brilliant live - so unexpected

I too would recommend Alligator as their finest, particularly Mr November - the best song of the gig last week.

...as for The Editors, saw them at Glasto a couple of years ago and was disappointed - it all began to sound the same after about 3 songs !
