Hasn't been the same since the Barca game, but he is a good player. Out of form, but with Barry fitness doubts, we do really need another player in the mid that can hold, and Parker seems unfancied and Hud didn't cover himself in glory either by all accounts. Missed the Japan game as was camping at the weekend around Constantine Bay.

So England are fcuked. With Cole not making the 30, and Parker omitted from the 23, England only have two WHU players. Capello's dropped a bollock there...

From OliverKayTimes on Twitter: "Now there's a rumour (UNCONFIRMED for now) of Ledley King OUT and Michael Dawson IN."

i am surprised that capello hast tried playing gerrard off rooney (as he plays a lot for liverpool)

it provides the 5 man midfield when necessary but stops the gerrard/lampard axis of evil

rooneys proved this year he can be an effective lone front man

neils about to go apoplectic because there is no-one in england as good as theo!

Have I ever once said that?

However, he's someone that would win us matches we wouldn't otherwise win. There's no other player in the squad that will do that (outside of Heskey, on the basis that we find it hard to score without him).

Will we win the WC if Walcott is left behind? Defo not.

Would be win the WC with him included? Still unlikely, but it gives us a small chance.

Here's betting that before England are on the plane home people will be strongly thinking that Pat has messed up by tyakin Lennon and SWP before him (if that's what is the case - not certain yet).

    • Pressure will be shifted to Israel, but don't think anything is going to happen this side of the election.
    • It's encouraging news, but Israel's withdrawal from Gaza will very much depend on how credible Hamas's commitment to completely disarm is.   In my view they are right to be skeptical.
    • Now we’ll see if Israel are actually capable of winding their necks in    I doubt it
    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
