NME Headliners

Last year we had two of the NME headliners (Lostprophets and Faith No More) held back and not announced until later. Are the three top bands on the NME in the first announcement the headliners or are there gonna be more bands to be added?

I can't see Pendulum being moved down as they'll have a big crowd, nor Kaxons as they've headlined before and have a new album on the way. The only one I can see being bumped is LCD, and that isn't a comment on their quality. I'm also surprised that Phoenix are so high up on the same night so could see a new headliner moving them both down a slot.

I think MCR are too big for the tent.

I think MCR were in headliner talks, R/L got someone else instead (GNR) as MCR was a risky bet - and didn't want to put them as headliner until the 4th album proves the success they assumed it would.

Good shout for next year imo, my guess is if R/L don't want them they'll end up at Download or Sonisphere though, or potentailly V.

Pendulum I kind of get, but Klaxons are nothing now and LCD Soundsystem, while having a fan base, are not headline material.

I think you get a picture of how Reading have "scrimped" on their budget in the last couple of years when you look at 2008, when you had Killers on main and Manics in the tent at the same time. They clearly don't spend the £ anymore.

You having a laugh? Do you think The Libs, GnR or Blink would come cheap? Not a chance and the same goes for alot of the undercard. As I've already pointed out, the two acts you've mentioned as not worthy of headlining, have done before, what do you think has changed since then?

I'm not sure its a cae of whether or not they're spending enough. For the record, the reason i started the thread wasn't out of disrespect for the bands currently topping the bill, just due to the way it was announced last year. All three offer something different to the option available on the main stage and they all seem to eb big enough, so I can see why they've been booked.

The Klaxons tent last time they headlined was apparently rammed, like my mates gave up going as they couldn't get in it.

Fair enough they've not done alot since but surely the new album will have arrived by August?

This coming from someone who cited MSP as a strong NME headliner then? (I'm not sure if you were citing them as strong or weak actually :S)

Either way, if they rammed the tent last time they've gotta play top of it again as it's only been 3 years, and chances are the next album will get interest in them again.
