Agreed. Saw him in 2007 (I think...) and he was mind numbingly boring to watch.

However, I think that's because he himself was mind numbingly bored!!!

We must have been lucky, but it was quite early on in the tour. I wasn't even aware of his solo stuff until this point. But he was just incredible so I went straight home and then discovered all his solo stuff. I now go through 2 or 3 month periods where I listen to nothing but him on the mp3 player. Love his voice as well as his style.

i only like to record water and shadows. the albums he did a month after each other or whatever it was, are a bit pants i think. not fond of his most recent one either.

And yes, Judyblue, he probably was, which is why he ended up leaving the band last year. He wasn't happy doing that kind of thing so has now moved on to ventures new (Swahili Blonde) ...

Surely his Play in a Day justifies his entry........without him most of the others wouldnt exist therefore making him the peoples favourite!

Josh Klinghoffer (spelling??). You may have noticed him bopping around at the side of the stage with RHCP, playing guitar.

I couldn't tell you, but I know Josh K has done stuff with JF in the past. When we saw RHCP in '06 they had some young thing on guitar, as well as JF; he was doing stuff in the background but was bloody good!

I loved Frusciante's little solo songs during RHCP gigs (I saw him play Maybe, How Deep Is Your Love, I Feel Love, Songbird and I think some Dylan song the times I saw them). RHCP gigs are going to be a bit strange without him, can't imagine Klinghoffer having as much personality in his playing as Fru or Navarro.

I agree, but towards the end of his time, he really wasn't working in their favour to be honest.

No, definitely not. The Reading 06 show was the least professional headline set I've ever seen. Fru looked like he wanted to rip Anthony's throat out when he accidentally pulled Fru's guitar cable out of his guitar. Chad spent a lot of time shouting at some roadie. Flea was in his own little world as usual. It was a terrible terrible show, just glad I had seen them at other times. If that was my first time it would have put me right off RHCP for life.

Playing a terrible set at a festival headline slot is really unforgivable. They get tonnes of money and a high proportion of the audience will be first-timers who'll judge the band on that one performance. It doesn't really allow for any f*** ups.

Blimey, sounds like we were very lucky with our gig then! Can't remember the date, but was Reading in July '06. One of the best gigs I've been to!

Can't complain at that really. Naturally, I voted for Tom Morello, but Frusciante would have been in my top 3.
