But for me it was an awakening to somebody I had taken for granted in my youth and never really respected other than a good Tune. As I watched him, knowing the tunes I was sucked in and spat out.... it was brilliant

Glasto 94 was when I came of age musically it knocked down all the boundary's that had existed for me up till then.

I had pigeon holed various genre's and was stuck on two or three, I left enlightened and educated.

Since then Glastonbury has just been about enjoying the music I discovered, however in 94 it was about embracing all music....

94 was a bit of an eye opener and never to be repeated..... hence why I rate that set so highly...

Me rents went to see him at the O2 last night and said that his new concept covers stuff with the orchestra, no guitars and no drums went down like a lead balloon with the audience. :P

i hate speculative threads but

last night, seeing him for the 1st time since he headlined glasto 94, i was reminded of what an absolute superstar the man is

he made me cry like a baby during 'dont give up'

he made me skip like a 5 year old during 'solsbury hill'

so eavii, when theres an act out there, that can put you through the ringer emotionally, retain his credibility, both as a musician and as a human being, can bring the best of the word with him

theres simply no excuse not to have him headlining the jazz/world saturday night

get peter in eavii, you know it makes sense!! :P

He was the reason that I went to Glastonbury Fayre at Worthy Farm in 1979. He is the reason that I'm going to Glastonbury in 2010!

Don't know where they will put the orchestra - more likely it'll be a collaboration with other artists as he did in 1979 and similar to other sets at the early festivals. Robert Plant is rumoured to being playing twice so we can pencil him in with perhaps Brian May as Percy has mentioned him in dispatches, who else do we want to join this merry band? 0% chance of Kate Bush, but it she did we could add Rolf Harris and Gary Brooker as they both played on her last album.

U2? Muse? Stevie Wonder? They just don't compare. This is what the 40th anniversary is all about. Bring it on!

the albums hit and miss - my body is a cage, flume, mirrorball, boy in the bubble are all great

i dont give a shit how people around me react - its what the tune does to me thats importnat

and the 2nd half of the show was briliant

Wow I never knew he did that song! That was my favourite song when I was young (Well I'm young now but you know what I mean). And one of the main reasons why I liked it was because the video had a guy riding a big dipper rollercoaster in it.

      People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing. And if it is someone else, I'm sure it won't be a band who played the festival last year.

      I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either

      I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
