booking bands is hard you know.

oh, wait - copping has secured 22 this week ready for an announcement he confirmed for Monday a couple of weeks ago. (To be fair, he did originally say it would be on the 15th)

Sonisphail indeed......

To be fair I think he has a lot more than that booked it was just getting their permission to announce them, I think Sonisphere may have the acts booked but for some reason aren't allowed to announce them due to other dates they're playing.

A lot of people are saying Airbourne will get announced for Download on Monday but with a UK coming up in April, I can't imagine they would get announced until after this, but who knows...

i don't think it really a fail considering Download has to name a lot of bands at once cause a. it took them soo long to announce the first wave so late on and b. download is only like 3 months away where sonisphere don't have to worry about naming so many bands in a hurry cause the have nearly 5 months to get a full line up if anything Download is more of a fail cause there leaving soo late to get more bands in plus it all depends on who they announce tommrow so stop bashing on Sonisphere tht there failing

If I was in charge of Sonisphere then thats exactly what I would do after the shite Download are going to announce at midnight. Its a definite case of quantity and not quality.

Faith No More, Slash and Alice in Chains please.

As I've said before, Sonisphere will have a better line up than Download :P

definately, hell i thought the internet was going to explode when lost ends and inevitably, everyone will be pissed, but this may just come first. Everyone on efests has said what a load of w*nk, and the download community seems pretty dismayed (or rather, very f**ked off), fair enough if they could argue more big bands to come, but that looks like main stage and second stage pretty much done. This has actually gone down worse than mcr headlining a couple of years back.

Seems sonisphere do have another roll of the dice after all.

Courtesy of Shazz on the official soni boards (dunno if the pic is real - but looks legit)

So slash looks pretty certain to me, and with Alice cooper's drummer there to drum for him, and Ian Astbury/Alice Cooper/Iggy Pop there at the fest to do their collabs with him off his new album, it will be pretty damn awesome. :P However I seriously doubt he is the special guest, at the Japanese fest he is playing the week after Sonisphere he isn't very high up at all, lower than Coheed & Cambria I think so I'm guessing AiC slot/ Coheed slot at highest.

Also day-tickets aren't planned for the fest yet, it all depends on weekend ticket sales, tickets are apparently a fair bit better this year, but I still don't see it selling out so day tickets may well appear closer to the time, however the poster is not indicative to day splits, but the special guests are Maiden's sub, so Placebo may very well be Rammstein's.

mmm yeah fort that would be the case after he wasnt announced yesterday for Download. No way the special guest, but if he's announced with say Faith No More and AIC......i would actually have to buy a ticket. at the moment tho its just Download for me

    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
