Eminem?

I never said there was.

My points are that:

1) If he came to Glasto he wouldn't use these lyrics.

2) If you wont let a homophobic person perform then why will you let a nonce or a drug addict.

Eh???? :P:P

Jay-Z has been pushed on his lyrics many times, and said he's laying out scenes that he doesn't personally agree with. That he's reflecting a certain type of life, not promoting it.

The only reason I guess you're of the belief that he's not pushed on it is because he's been there and cleared that up a long while ago. The same is not true with Eminem.

A drug addict is harming no one but him/her self. Addiction is also a medical issue.

No proven nonce has played as far as I'm aware.

:P

that has to be without a doubt the dumbest thing i have ever heard you say, that is naive beyond belief!

do you HONESTLY believe that to be true?

that drug addicts are beyond reproach as far as their involvment in the drugs trade goes?

Their addiction, by itself, harms no one but themselves.

There's issues off the back of addiction that harm others, but that's the result of the recognised medical condition called 'addiction'. It's not a freely chosen path.

The drug trade is no less exploitative than (say) the coffee trade. Have the deep objections you're expressing to drugs stopped you drinking coffee? :P

Is it a problem with Eminem playing because he'd be so high profile, rather than if he was only on a smaller stage it'd be more likely that it would be less of a problem?

Just wondering as Plan B has played before and his songs are quite similar to Eminem.

Oh and stop doing those stupid winks and replying with such smug sarcastic responses. It makes you sound pathetic.

If you think that, then you obviously have no idea about the misery and distress an addict addicted to any drug causes for everyone around them.

Which part was too complicated for you?

The "A drug addict is harming no one but him/her self" part?

Or the "Addiction is also a medical issue" part?

Or the "There's issues off the back of addiction that harm others, but that's the result of the recognised medical condition called 'addiction'. It's not a freely chosen path." part?

Oh and stop doing those stupid winks and replying with such smug sarcastic responses. It makes you sound pathetic.

Yet nowhere as pathetic as your defence of a homophobe. :P

I tell you what, if Gil Scott Heron can play, who's recoreded some very dodgy homophobic stuff in his time, why not Eminem? those lauding the festival spirit (that's you Neil, mate :P ) also seemed quite happy that GSH was playing.

Where's the difference?

Bizarre!

you are basically just refering to the literal traslation of the word and dehumanising it to back up your point.

The dehumanisation is yours, via the belief that being a drug addict makes a person scum.

They have (in the vast majority of cases*) not chosen to be an addict.

They have (in the vast majority of cases*) not chosen to become the person that being an addict has made of them.

(* if they have made that choice, then they'd be one of the scumbags if drugs didn't exist - so nothing extra has come of them being an addict).

Here's betting your mum or auntie or someone else you know who you think respectable is a drug addict outside of your knowledge. Yet I bet you don't regard them as the same sort of scum, which gets to show the problem here is not the drugs or their addiction, but your knowledge of addiction. :P

My 2ps worth, not that anyone gives a f**k.

I'm sure, convinced that when eminem writes, he's writing in character, in a long established literary tradition, I don't for a moment think he's believing or meaning those things he says. Same as Dylan, same as Springsteen, same as a Bukowski short story, same as Raymond Carver, whoever you want to choose.

It's very clear in Plan B's lyrics that he's not agreeing with them.
