i dont know where they got their info from, but take a look at the support for Sir Macca at HRC here

now, that looks totally unsubstantiated, but if it is true, that must surely increase the likelyhood of an appearance at worthy farm?

Also, Skunk Anansie probably wouldn't be billed above Keane. People seem to forget ANYONE can edit Wiki. As means of demonstration I will now change the article to indicate that The Darkness are reforming to headline the Sunday, with Sir Paul supporting...it'll be changed in seconds, so be quick!

Last time Simon & Garfunkel payed, they headlined Hyde Park didn't they?

I'd love to see them. They've recorded - for me - some of my favourite songs. The Boxer, The Only Living Boy in New York, I am a Rock, America - all beautiful, brilliant poingant songs of depth and clarity.

And anyone who doesn't break out into a huge grin when hearing the 59th bridge street song has no soul.

Given that Cornbury paid £1.2M for just Paul Simon a year or two back (the promoter is clearly insane :P), I can't see how HRC could afford them both as an undercard, or that they'd play Glasto on Glasto's reduced fees.

I was lucky enough to just happen to be in Rome a few years ago when they did a free concert in front of the Colisuem. They played just about every song I could have wished for, and performed the greatest stage 'effect' ever... during America, just as they got to the line "and the moon rose over an open field", there it was, a full moon over the Coliseum!!

Art was a bit of a twit, struggling to put more than a couple of Italian words together, accompanied with a sense of "why does anyone speak this way... really" in his voice.

..... there wasn't a lot of love between the pair of them...

Your favourite building - Il Colosseo, note the spelling - ever is somewhere where people were ripped apart by animals for the enjoyment of the watching public, or where there was a fight to the death for sport?

It's actual name is the Flavian Amphitheatre (or the latin equivalent obviously) and I'm fascinated by the historical, social and political aspect of it, why it was built, as well as the aesthetics of the building.

The word 'colosseum' supposedly comes from the statue of Nero that was situated where the amphitheatre now stands. Or very close to it - it was part of the grounds of the Domus Aurea (the lake to be precise). The statue was gigantic - it was called the Colossus statue. So by draining the lake and destroying the vulgar riches of Nero's private residence in order to give the land back to the people, the Emperor Vespasian - and his son, Titus who inaugurated the building - became rather popular.

I love it.

Thanks for the history lecture.

So what's number two in your list of fave buildings then? The gas chambers at Auschwitz?

* realises quite probably he's gone too far *

Not quite, but I'd imagine there's a few people who'd like to rip that Wolves flag to pieces...

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
