Emily Interview (gone)

Dont get too excited !

Emily says the Full line up will be confirmed for them in about 2 weeks and it should'nt be too long after that that we get the "Big Announcement".

I posted the full interview here last night that is on another festival website and obviously I should'nt have because this morning it has gone. Sorry Neil if it offended you perhaps I was out of order. She also made a quote that I liked so I put it in my signature.

That's very probably incorrect, unless Glasto have changed the terms of their agreements half-way thru the timeframe of those agreements.

not your fault, but I've got VERY pissed off with the amount of spaming said website was doing on these forums, so they can f**k right off.

Is it contractual then do you mean ?

It's certainly 'agreed', if not a full contract.

There's an amount of flexibility within it - as demonstrated when they released the line-up a month early a couple of years back. But I'll be very surprised if anything of substance is announced before then (the headliners might well be earlier, especially as they're out of the bag anyway .... my guess is when the next Q comes out for that).

I saw this piece yesterday and really like it. I also really like the publication that publish it as it give a fresh persepctive on festivals.

I check this forum every few days and have seen no evidence on here of spamming.

I can't understand why it has been taken down/banned/whatever.

we are all festival goers an we are all friends aren't we?

I think efestivals is being a bit harsh here....

I check these forums every few minutes, and have seen ample evidence of spmming - when I've removed those spams.

Are they promoting eFestivals on their own site? Then why do you think that efestivals should promote them (but even if they did, it would be a VERY long way from any fair exchange, given the traffic levels)? Does Tescos have big signs up saying "shop at Sainsburys"? :P

This is a business. That is a business. My concern is about ensuring that I'm able to pay my staff each month, and not in giving a competitor free publicity just because this place is hugely more successful than they are.

If they were the friends you're claiming for them, they'd have made a friendly approach, and not spammed these forums very many times and then moaned about it to any who'll listen that we're being "unfair".

They *expected* efestivals to give them free advertising; if efestivals does that there is no efestivals, and no free advertising for them anyway.

Which part ? That they don't have all the acts confirmed in 2 weeks. Or "should'nt be too long" after 2 weeks that we should get the big announcement?

She mentioned that most of the acts they asked to play said yes this year. "Should'nt be too long" could mean that it will be May/June before we see a full line up. We just don't know.

As I mentioned before in my post that was deleted, sorry Neil was just making a point that you proved quite nicely by deleting the post, however my point is thus:

Do not expect nor demand free speech on here, this is efestivsls.co.uk party, bandwidth and business, if you don't like that then post somewhere else.

The way I see it - why SHOULD everything be announced so soon? Why ruin some surprises further down the line?

Surely Glastonbury's practise of not revealing the line ups until much nearer the festival is one of many things that makes it different to the other large festivals who announce their line ups very quickly?

What evidence of spamming? I've seen blatant Viagra, Chinese Nike etc spam that's been on this site for hours at a time, but I've never noticed spam from TFF or any of the other festival sites you've censored.

Just because you've not seen it doesn't prove anything about whether it's happened. It's happened, via two separate accounts, with both tracing back to a particular person whose purpose here is ONLY spamming, spamming, spamming.

In fact, if you do a backlink check (No, I don't mean use Google's back link checker which is crap) on said site, you'll find no evidence what so ever that they've spammed anywhere else.

I have the evidence of them spamming. They're spam posts.

Your 'evidence' is obviously cock.

I've done the same check on some of the other sites you've censored and they show the same lack of evidence. Is this how spamers operate these days, they only spam a single site that immediately removes their posts and not bother to spam elsewhere? :P

unless they're using a bot (which they're not), then spammers spam in the most effective places. And the most effective place in this instance is the most read festivals website: here.

All the sites I've noticed that have been censored do have one thing in common though, they often get an exclusives (Such as the Emily interview) that you don't have or publish festival news before you do. Perhaps this is just coincidental? :P

Oh do f**k off. :P

Spammers get banned. If they don't want to get banned then they shouldn't spam.

None of the tff spams have had anything that's 'exclusive' within them (tho they've claimed that they have).

If the reason you're censoring is that you're insecure about your forum members using other festival sites, that's your prerogative, but please don't insult our intelligence by telling us that the real reason is because they're spamming us, because that's clearly BS.

Oh do f**k off. :P

Spammers get banned. If they don't want to get banned then they shouldn't spam.

The only "insecurity" I have is about my ability to pay my staff. I help ensure that I can pay my staff by ensuring that any advertising is paid for.

There's a reason why this site is and remains the most popular. If you don't like this site being run in a fair and equitable manner for ALL people that post here then you're welcome to use other sites instead.

Such a predictable and sad response... what has happened to this forum?

This forum is being run in *EXACTLY* the same way that it has been for over ten years now.

If anything has happened, it's in your head and not here.

Surely you generate revenue with every page view, no?

no.

This story generated a lot of page views last night - and indeed today - is this not good for your business?

No. I'm the one in the place to make that judgement, not you.

Perhaps your business is doing so well that you can afford to turn down ad revenue - in which case I take my hat off to you, Sir.

this business is doing less than 50% as well as it could otherwise be - IF I was one of the many shisters that takes money to put bullshit in front of your eyes like just about all others do.

This site does something turn down ad revenue. However, that's not applicable in the least in this instance, because no offer has been made to be turned down.

Frankly as long as the post is regarding festivals then you should allow it and revel in the revenue it generates you.

Right. And will you be also be advising Tesco's to allow Sainsbury's staff to walk aroubnd their stores saying "shop at Sainsbury's instead"? :P:P

You're talking cock.

By banning users and publications you alienate people, damage your reputation and reduce the size of your universe.

by not having spammers of any sort the smooth flow of these forums isn't interupted, and people's reading of them is enhanced. You are not in any place to make any informed judgement.

This is protectionism in its ugliest form.

The only protectionism going on here is the same protectionism as every other business operates. The protectionism that allows my staff to pay their mortages, to feed their children and themselves, and not have to be going to the job centre instead.

Go tell your 'friends' to put efestivals on their website in a prominent place, and do come back and tell me when they've done it. :P:P .... cos only then will your ill-informed rant have any accuracy.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
    • Yup and they aren't cheap   Glastonbury is different though, it's a place that will pack out for rarities they don't usually see. Download strictly speaking shouldn't be the strangest place for Avril to pop up of she had been a touring artist of longer times over the years.   Avril and GC would get the same billing for me and GC are selling arenas out quicker than Avril sold Ally Pally. Bearing in mind she'd pnly done soem Brixton dates before.
    • Avril gets above GC on rarity (see Cypress Hill this year). She drew in something like 70,000 at Glastonbury, so much so that they had to close the field off. I’d wager that she would get the biggest crowd of the entire weekend if she was to play DL.
