Well his set this year sounded great (even thoughI couldn't actually see him) and I hope he'll be just as good in Manchester this Tuesday. Mayve next year will be a reunion of the Kinks on one of the stages?

it was a touch choice btw him and Neil Young on the pyramid and i went for NYoung, who was brilliant, but i hear that davies was similarily brilliant up on the hill. 'twas my biggest clash of '09 (and missing Doves too at the same time) but i have never liked some of the sightlines to the acoustic stage, as unless you are right up front and center it can be hard to see much, so happy i stuck to pyramid where it was easy to get inside the front barrier post-Specials.

would be nice if they brought back Ray Davies again next year and put him up on the pyramid. haven't seen him since... The Kinks at Kentish Town and Country Club June 1988.

There was no Lola last night in Manchester either (2 encores though), but it was a brilliant set, he was on good form, chatting & joking with the audience & playing around with the numbers, including a great Johnny Cash impersenation during Sunny Afternoon(!) and a funny blues improv about his CD that got given away with the Mail earlier on this year.

He made this rather interesting comment:

"There's a rumour going round that The Kinks are reforming....

....it's true....

....it is a rumour"

Still, he mentioned his brother and the band quite fondly a few times, so you never know...

Fantastic - but PLEASE don't clash with Stevie!!! :P:P

2nd from the top would be brilliant, then a quick sprint to the Pyramid for Stevie.

Great news though.

it was the worst clash day ive ever had.

Neil Young on the pyramid

Q.Tip on the jazzworld

Animal Collective on the park

Ray on the acoustic

Doves on the JP

i can see it happening all over again, thats just not fair.

    • Very probable. I was a bit surprised by the crowd I saw in the video they drew, and I say that as a big feeder fan. I thought they’d draw a really good sized crowd but it looked rows deep. Chuffed for them though. Still think they’re a great band after all these years.  Rumours at they’re doing a Polythene tour next year too.
    • It sounds like Feeder drew a crowd too big for that stage originally. Given the time period they haven’t appeared at Download as well it's a nostalgia thing. Halestorm vs Feeder wasn't the most ideal but leaving after either to get out would have been sweet at least.
    • You cant see everything unfortunately, it would be Halsey there for me 100%, the last 20/25 of Gorillaz. Halsey would be my non negotiable act on that day myself. Oddly Bleech 9:3 would actually give me an option I wouldn't mind between 3:15pm and Halsey. Dogstar would only likely be a 10 minutes thing of I've seen Keanu lol.
    • I think the tent was just right for Feeder, on that day anyway.   If you had a Biffy-esque day again, or someone of that ilk (maybe Pearl Jam for example), whack them on that main stage. 100%.    As it is, I think feeder will be back and probably high up the second stage or main stage next year or 2028.
    • I think we still have 2 acts to announce each day, maybe one more big name to complete the lineup?   Perhaps the big name is Turnstile on Thursday, which isn't sold out yet. And some other names that could be added like Iceage, Band of Horses or Tomora.
