Pretty sick joke. You have to really feel your anyone who busts their arse for 4 years to get to an Olympics and to try and fight for a medal just for it to be taken away from them somewhat arbitrarly . All that hard work and effort for what? Its pretty depressing. Inverdale didn't know how to handle Conlan on the Beeb yesterday. That result alone could severely damage boxing in Ireland for years to come which is a massive shame considering the lift it got from London 4 years ago

Somehow I dont think Pat Hickeys arrest will discourage any kids to pick up sports but its great to see the Brazilians going after the brown envelope brigade. The level of corruption and drugs in so many world sports is depressing

Irishman calls Brazil Olympics corrupt.
Irishman gets arrested for Olympics corruption.

That's a bit of a coincidence, don't you think?

Na. You are very much adding 2 and 2 and getting 5 there I believe. The ball was rolling for Hickys arrest for the last 2 weeks. They had already made arrests into the ticket touting and have warrants out for others including other Irish men, Brits and Dutch apparently.

Also Conlan wasnt saying the the Brazil Olympics are corrupt. He was saying amateur boxing and the AIBA are corrupt (which they are), so there is a difference. Although I would not argue with anyone who thinks the IOC is corrupt. There is a definite whiff off them, especially in the wake of how they handled the Russian state sponsored doping program.

Huge fight on Saturday. Kovalev vs Ward. Both unbeaten.

Anyone watch that fucking shambles of a fight last week? Ortiz vs Scott.

Ward will win easily if he's not too rusty.

Yes, Scott was a disgrace but Ortiz not impressive at all. Certainly won't be worrying anyone else in the division with that display

Ortiz/Scott was awful

Can't wait for Kovalev/Ward. Think Ward will win on points.  Two UFC shows tonight too, spoilt for choice but looking forward to this most.

Serious performance from Lomachenko at the weekend. That said, Walters quitting was awful.

Very impressive from Katie Taylor too on her pro debut. Shes on the AJ card now next week.

Haven't seen it yet, looking forward to catching the whole fight replayed.

The AJ card on 10 Dec is shite. When the pick of the fights is Whyte v Chisora....

    • Judging by last night at Wembley, Luke Combs should be in the conversation of headliner. The UK is having a moment with country music so I don't think it would be particularly left field either.

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
