Queens of the Stone Age ?

I've seen QOTSA 5 times and they have either been brilliant, or absolutely shocking. I'm due to see them do a Brilliant perfromace so hopefully Glasto 10 will be that perfromcance.

i've seen them 16 times over the years and they are by far the best live act i have ever seen and without wanting to sound a tit i have seen a hell of a lot of acts, no other band i have seen mix up their setlists and play from their entire back catalogue including b sides, covers and rarities and seem to cater for the true fans of the band and know what they want and deliver the goods, and no other band i have seen play with such enthusiasm and intensity.

i'm not saying they can't have off days as all bands can but theirs are few and far between i've seen them play mediocre gigs at festivals or as support where they know they aren't playing to their crowd and they just go through the motions but they still manage to keep everyone happy by playing the hit and i've only seen a really poor show once and that was when they were going through troules and right before Nick Oliveri was sacked from the band and he and josh had had a full on fight right before coming on stage.

it's a shame they are the kind of acts eavise insists on not not booking in recent years as i would love nothing more than to see them at glastonbury

This though i think is almost perfection. Totally kickass sunset performance of a great song, by a kickass Queens lineup, at a great festival. This is HEAVY!

it was me who pointed out that they have dates well into next year and still no announcement of australian dates which will inevitably come, supergroups such as this are always only a temporary thing that is a given and TCV will probably last until late into next year before disbanding.

Foo Fighters releasing a best of album is down to record company directives and cotractual obligations and they will not be reforming next year to promote the album and that is from the mouth of Dave Grohl who a friend of mine spoke with backstage after a TCV gig a few weeks back.

best of albums are rarely the bands idea and simply used as a way to eat away at a set amount of albums deal with record companies and to keep money coming in for said companies.

add to that taylor and nate are both touring next year with their own projects and Grohl with TCV.

though i would not put it past them to perhaps do a special one off thing for a special occasion perhaps.

Josh Homme will be producing a hell ofa lot more next year as well as finally getting around to doing the new Desert Sessions album and then no doubt new Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal albums all of which will no doubt be done after TCV have completed touring and go their seperate ways once again ready to go back to their other projects in 2011.

Ive seen them more than a dozen times mate and more often than not on the last tour they were hit and miss. I think you were at the Zitadelle gig too right? Thought it was dull as dishwater.

If they brought Oliveri & Lanegan back and played the setlist that was played in the saltmine then you come close to the praise you gave 'em.

the zitadell gig was good due to the full line up but yeah the their setlist and performance were sub par but the day on the whole with the setting of the gig beign with a huge group of friends and 2 days away in a city i'd never been to before more than made up for it.

but i did say i had seen them perform mediocre gigs and that i had seen them only once play a really poor gig, no bands are above that, so i'm hardly fawnign over them.

i was lucky enough to catch the better gigs of the last tour it seems Brighton, Bristol, Hammersmith and especially the gig at the Southampton Guildhall that was top notch and with a stallar setlist and is probably the best gig i've seen them play.

The above 8 tracks are superb mate. That Southampton gig had one of the best setlists. I think it was pretty unique though right? Correct me where I'm wrong but on last tour I saw 3 shows in dublin, 2 in Germany, 1 in Paris and 1 in Holland and only 2 of those gigs were worthwhile. The rest not so much.

I got engaged for example mate on the day of the Paris gig - apart from a ML that lifted the roof off the place the rest of it was bongwater. They didnt seem to give a shite bro. Awful.

I cant wait to see them again - christ don't get me wrong theyre AWESOME - but i reckon they turn it on for certain shows and others are just f/ck you gigs, give a shit.

Its just so frustrating having followed them all round this continent. I heard one Fun Machine, one Chemistry, one Headache. Not good enough.

in this respect they are like most other bands to be fair

i find they tend to lift their game at the smaller shows out of the big cities where they tend to play a setlist more geared towards the casual fans so play a setlist comprising more of "the hits"

i seem to have been luckier than most and have caught some of their better shows and setlists but i am still yet to hear Born To Hula and Infinity live i think i've heard pretty much everything else over the years.

i would love the chance to get to see them with Mark Lanegan again too as the only time i saw them with him in the line up it was a terrible show

actually i don't think i have heard hand model, neither have i heard Give The Mule What He Wants which is one of my favourites!

and yeah Inifinty isn't that rare but i've never heard it live, i've actually not heard No One Knows much either really!

Anything involving Joshua would be awesome in my eyes *turns to mush*. Still devastated to this day that I missed them in Newcastle last year due to being ill Saw their last two Leeds performances and turned to jelly during both, I simply can't look at them in an unbiased way, too obsessed! TCV at Leeds this year was really, really special.
