Weather thread 2010

That's from yesterday. And that's from Metcheck. Therefore I ignore it completely.

I know it's still early and it's certainly not a definite wash out, but I am so, so annoyed that it *looks* like it might be.

It's my last Glastonbury, and we've had positive forecasts for a while. For it all to turn to shit THIS F**KING CLOSE to the date itself is just so gutting. I wouldn't feel this bad if we had shit weather all the way through until the festival, so we at least knew what to expect. We've been teased and taunted. It's simply cruelty to sun lovers to do this to us. Again. I know what John McCarthy must have felt when his guards said 'we might let you go home next week' 2 years into his captivity, only to tell him 'ha! Only joking! Another 3 years I reckon....'

Only I don't have another 3 years. This is it. Last one. I won't be back for ages - years and years. I DEMANDED a dry one.

There's nothing I can do about it, but that doesn't stop me feeling quite sick of the prospect of yet another mudbath.

PLEASE change back. Just stay dry - just once.

End of rant. Must calm down. Must calm down.

That's not a repeat of 2007 , That's more like 2000. Some peoples memories of Glastos past seem Either shaded behind rose tinted specs , or completey bogged up with images of muddy gloom. There is a middle ground , & it looks to that that is what we will have to be happy with

BBC :

The last few Glastonbury Festivals have seen a mixture of blazing sunshine or washed-out mayhem with heavy rain causing flooded tents and slippery mud. So what will this year be like?

BBC West weatherman Richard Angwin takes a look at the prospects for this year's Glastonbury Festival.

There is mixed news as far as the latest forecast for Glastonbury 2010 is concerned. It certainly look set to be a mainly dry picture in the run-up to the event.

A little rain is possible late this evening and overnight at Worthy Farm but this will barely dampen the ground. Thereafter it will be dry over the weekend and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday should also remain dry.

Now for the bad news. Low pressure looks set to develop to the west of the UK later on Thursday. The big question is how quickly that will translate into showers across Somerset.

Currently, it looks as though Thursday will be dry but there could be some heavy showers (and brisk winds) on Friday and Saturday before pressure recovers and, hopefully, Sunday will be mainly dry.

So the advice is the usual - be prepared. Showers in late June can often be very heavy although at this stage there is nothing to suggest the torrential showers of previous years

Germany have lost to Serbia :(

However, in the spirit of the many-changing forecasts I am ignoring this 'sign' and putting it down to the wrong type of grass on the pitch. I am going to cling to the fact that the French got well and truly beaten last night, whereas the Germany game was a much closer affair - it even had a missed penalty.

This MUST mean that France (and hence Bad Weather) is in the decline and that Germany (and hence Great weather) is in the ascendency....doesn't it??

please.....

anyone.....

I've had enough of these weather forecasts (until there is a good one) and so I'd suggest everyone reverts to traditional folklore: stick a finger up your arse, if it comes out smelling of roses it will rain, if it smells of shit, the weather will be lovely.

I can see you're a girl, so I'll be kind.

The weather is only linked to France and Germany results. Not England. If England lose I'll personally stand over your tent with a watering can all weekend

Weather geeks: I'm looking at the ECM on Wetterzentrale, does the "ensemblemittel" chart show the average of the ensembles? If that's the case it's looking alright, the emsemblemittel charts show a much less deep low than the operational.

The UKMO charts out to Thursday don't look bad to me (can't see any further)

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
