Cannabis Research

Hi

My name is Caroline chatwin and I'm an academic from the University of Kent with an active interest in researching cannabis! I've designed a survey with a group of friends to try and find out more about how people are using cannabis in the uk today. The idea is to try and bombard the government with valid information about cannabis use so they dont have to use the dodgy statistics they get from sources like the police. If you have used cannabis in the last year and live in the UK please take the time to fill in the survey. The link will take you to an anonymous site and I won't be able to find out any personal details about you. If you want to chat and find out more info before you complete I'll be hanging out on the forum today. If you have any feedback about the survey and how it could be better please let me know.

The problem is not lack of good information or advice going to the government, it is the fact that well considered and evidence based advice is ignored for political reasons.

See the government ignoring downgrading of ectasy or keeping cannabis class C against drugs advisory council advice, a study they commisioned with our money, but then ignored because its conclusions weren't what they wanted to hear. Read flat earth news regarding heroin for insight into why.

Ain't that the truth.

The gov doesn't make drug legislation in the interests of the general population.

Like the rubbish atm about making these legal highs illegal because they are dangerous - we wouldn't have any hastily knocked up synthetic crap from the far east if the proper drugs were legal.

Same with that bollokcs ad about "the stuff you think is coke may be cut with dog wormers or rat poison" - let's have the pure stuff then!

The gov knows all the facts, they just don't act because it isn't in their interests.

Argentina is moving in the right direction, saying that state should not decide morality, and if you have a couple of joints that's fine by them. Individual freedom given a bit of respect.

That's a really interesting read! I have to say I was surprised that four drinks in one sitting counts as 'binge drinking' for girls - and five for boys. Just shows how dangerous alcohol can be, since I wouldn't have thought 4 drinks was a binge - I associate the term with puking/fighting/falling over drunk, but that's clearly wrong.

Also of course it's less likely you'll want to drink loads after a joint or two, not least because the off licence seems soooo far away.
