ON THE MAIN STAGE

Saturday 29th August at The Reading Festival

With their second album, ‘The First Days Of Spring’ due the day after the festival and a bona fide massive hit from their first in the shape of ‘Five Years Time’, NOAH AND THE WHALE are all set to continue their rise to prominence. If you can’t wait to hear new tracks from the band then you can get a sneak preview and learn the words to the album title track with a free download now available at the band’s site – www.noahandthewhale.com

ON THE FESTIVAL REPUBLIC STAGE

Day to be confirmed

With a line-up boasting some of the hottest new names in music, the addition of The Xx to the stage takes the quality bar that little bit higher. The South Londoners have been getting rave reviews for their dark, atmospheric sound and are very much in the ones to watch category.

i only know '5 years time' or whatever it is called which is pretty good, will have to give them a listen. if that song is anything to go by it could be quite good listening to them in the sun.

never heard of the xx but again, will get on it!

Not sure why people are complaining at this stage. The bands lower down the bill are never going to be large acts. I'd rather Noah and the Whale than yet another Kerrang poster boy band playing lower down.

On the subject of Noah and the Whale I'm personally not really a fan. Thre are a number of recent folk rock/folk indie bands who have emerged (the other notable one is Fleet Foxes) who by all rights I feel I should like, but just can't get into. I think the problem is for me that folk indie/folk rock music is perhaps the most cliquey genre I like (IE I just stick with the classics). So if it's not as good as Neil Young's 'Harvest' album, or Neutral Milk Hotel 'The Aeroplane Under The Sea', or The Byrds 'Sweet Heart of the Rodeo' or early Ellott Smith, I tend to just shut up shop.

Then again, that bloke from Fleet Foxes' voice really does get on my nerves...

Never heard of The XX. At first I thought it might be Xerox Teens, but it seems it's a completely different band.

EDIT: That is quoted directly from the official site however the poster when loaded up on the home page shows Noah and the Whale added beneath The Living End on Sunday.

The official site has now changed it's news piece to say Noah are playing at Reading on the Sunday.

Yesterday, the press release that got sent out had conflicting info, saying Saturday in one place and Sunday in another. We checked with the press office as to which was right and were told Noah is definitely playing Reading on the Saturday. But it now appears that that was wrong. :)

As soon as people are into work at the press office we'll check it with them again. As soon as we know which is right we'll post the details here.
