I like how Machine head only told half the story on their site, said nothing about Sonisphere trying to fix the "blunder" or whatever they called it.

At the end of the day Lineups are subject to change, and its clear MH have such a massive ego that they wouldnt take being moved down a slight bit, or even getting bumped away up afterwards. It shouldnt matter where they are placed, a big part of playing gigs is for the fans, which is what should be important to them, not this. And all this is going to do is hurt the fans, so if MH want to f**k their fans over then so be it, but I dont think i'll be supporting them ever again through album sales/gigs etc...

Also I dont think MH realised how this festival worked - they said they were originally 3rd on the lineup up but they werent, due to it being staggered they were actually 5th, Soni was going to bump them up to 3rd above limp who would have played 4th or 5th then but MH were still having their Bitch fit and wouldnt listen to reason and pulled out anyways.

I'm very pissed off they aren't playing, but to be fair to Machien Head they had their contract ignored and were just shat upon by the sonisphere UK organisers, so i'm not gonna moan at them for pulling out, i'm gonna moan at Sonisphere for not honouring bleeding contracts.

from what i gather of the situation, machine head seem bang out of order!

they may not like being bumped or whatever but they should play for their fans and then refuse to ever do the festival again.

the bit at the bottom of their quote where they ask for people to complain as loudly as possible or whatever they say is just pathetic and childish. it is just a massive ego trip.

cocks!

hit them where it hurts and download their music for free and make your own machine head t-shirts!

Disturbed seem very unlikely, they're not promoting anything so I can't see them making the trip for one show. I reckon Killswitch might be a possibilty with a new album out. I'd love to see Rancid or NOFX put on the bill - both have had albums out this year, but I fear their styles are too far removed from the dropouts :(

fair enough machine head were miffed, but when they replaced a7x at the metallica wembley gig they were booked below h.i.m. (who really should've moved down, there was swaying arms of v signs, the band got pelted with hotdogs, and the crowd were switching between chanting "f**k off" "f**k you" and "get the f**k off", gutted for any him fans there that day.

mh have acted in a diva-esque manner, but shows that the bookers were quite naive to not even consult them. tbh if metallica weren't involved i'd smell another zoo8 :(

so, that's Fear Factory, Thin Lizzy, The Sword, and now Machine Head all pulled out! looking good Sonisphere! :(

i must admit, I did really want to go, even applied to work there but can't get the time off my actual work, but it does seem to be a bit of a comedy of errors. although it's a pretty shitty thing for Machine Head to do, and i'd be FUMING if i had a ticket, I can kinda understand where they're coming from. after being hailed as the 'metal comeback kings' on the strength of the last 2 albums, and becoming pretty massive (WAAAAY more massive than when i first saw them in '99!), i can see why they'd be a bit f**ked off at Fred and co stealing the spot!

seriously people, yes, Limp Bizkit were good at Download, but NOTHING compared to MH in '07, and does anyone REALLY think any new Limp Bizkit material is gonna be remotely as good as anything Machine Head have ever done? Limp Bizkit need to do their few shows and then f**k off again, period.

Shows Machine Head honouring HIM's contract and billing ^^^^.

But yeah I ain't sure what to make of this, Soni have pissed off MH and Frank Turner both enough to pull out. Considering I've never heard of a band pulling out of any festival before for the organisers being ****s, I'd imagine Soni are more at fault here then their response lets on.

This might not be the only issue MH have had with Soni but just where they crossed the line? They're not really allowed to say alot with all the contract and stuff...

At the end of the day, MH are letting down all their fans who bought tickets based partly on the fact they were playing. Forget petty arguments, promoters, which band is better, money, slots. When it comes down to it, the fans are the only thing that matter.

And for that reason alone, they can f**k off. It is a totally selfish decision and they have disappointed a lot of people. As someone else pointed out, they aren't cancelling the other Sonisphere dates, which smacks of double standards and pure hypocricy.

I'm not really a fan of MH, more of LB, tho thats besides the point. Seems a little premadonna like to me, i mean ok so they are a big band and the norm is big bands go nearer the headline. But thats not for the bands its for the crowds, for the build up through the day. I don't like that a band won't play simply because of their opinions on their stature, what happened to bringing the music to the people whenever, however. I dunno, maybe i miss the point cus im not in a band.

Bad form from both sides, they should have been warned but they should have maybe bitten the bullet (ha) and taken the lower billing!!

They were my highlight of the weekend for sure, VERY DISSAPOINTED!!

    • TOP 10 acts (top 5 in bold😞   Blood Orange (ciutat)   Guitarricadelafuente   Oklou - Looks like I'm capable of enjoying music in the rain after all, just not the whole night.   Rilo Kiley   The Cure   Jade   Depresión Sonora   Gelli Haha (Parc del Forum) - Her music never really clicked with me. Until I saw her live.   MARINA   Six Sex (ciutat) - I was shocked how supersmall the venue was and that almost everyone (except for me) knew every word of every song (including the ones that were released this weekend!).   Honorable mention:   Ashnikko - missed the first 15 minutes (because of Gelli Haha) and I'm not really a fan of her music, but the show was an absolute blast.
    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
