The vast majority managed to get the Wednesday off work so they didn't have to come down Thursday and try to find a decent spot, why do you think Tuesdays are any different? I guess most people are off for a week anyway.

Surely it is easy enough to find out from British rail and national express, how many people are travelling on the Wednesday. They will have the amount of car park tickets requested. all the weather reports were saying sunshine from Wednesday until Friday. They even know where people are travelling from by our post codes. you must plan for every eventuality

If you sell 135,000 tickets to an event you should have a suitable method of getting the punters on and off site, its an integral part of getting an event license

It seems like there is only a plan a and if that fails no one does anything.

why were they still announcing on the trains that the Bristol train was for the festival 7 hours after the shuttle bus was cancelled.

the press was reporting 60,000 arrived wednesday

this about right to me as there were loads streaming in on thursday

i dont know why i had to park accross the road of the a361 when they then later filled the car parks on the festival side of the road

a was in west 32 when west 28 ect was empty

the lights set up for people crossing the road there made traffic flow very slow

They should make the festival a week long! They should charge more for those that come for the week

and less for the ones that come for three days . For those that come late there should be extra camping kept back and on the thursday night released.

The buses,coaches and shuttles should have priority over all car traffic .

Getting out is more of a problem but they should still give priority for buses etc.

Mebbe try train or coach next year? The festival had dedicated bus / coach routes that were traffic-free and an absolute breeze!

We had a nightmare getting on site on the Wednesday, we left Bristol on a National Express coach at 1pm didn't get on site until 10.45pm, it was after midnight before we got our tents pitched. When we left on Monday we decided to get packed up asap and managed to get on an earlier coach to Bristol at 9am and had no delays.

I was pretty pi**ed off about the coach trip to glasto and how it ruined my plans of a lovely afternoon of wandering the site. I'd be interested to know just what caused the delays because I heard a few different reasons, it won't stop me going back though, but I will have to seriously think about the way I get to the site in future.

in 2007 & 2008 we arrived early hours of Thursday morning (about 4am) & drove straight on site, but the walk from the car park to the camp site was over an hour (with all our stuff on trolleys) and by the time we got there - most camp sites were almost full & we had to squash in between other people (Cockmill in 2007 & Pennards in 2008) 7 by the time we got there we were so tired we just couldn't be bothered to go any further...we just wanted to sleep !

so this year (as we wanted a decent site in Park Home) we decided to go a day early & we timed it well cos we got on site (no traffic at Orange gate), parked quickly & got to Ped Gate D by 8.30am...

we were on site, parked up, camped & drinking cider by 9.30am Wednesday

as per the previous 2 years, we packed up on Sunday morning, took the stuff back to the car & returned to site to watch a few more acts...we drove off site at 8pm on Sunday as we were all knackered. we would have liked to have stayed to watch Blur but the thought of leaving with thousands of others wasn't very pleasant...

We left Yorkshire at midnight ! , stopped at Tamworth and met some lads heading down also !!

With a few other people around watched the sun rise at Stone-Henge !

Arrived at the site about 6.00 , very little traffic about , went to a nearby Pub that opened at

6.30 for breakfast.

Was in the Q at 7.30 am and got in no trouble !

Was sat outside Brothers at 10.50 waiting for em to open !!!

Problems occured at castle cary due to the fact that the shuttle bus start time was not advertised and there was people waiting at before 8 when we got off the train. the staff at the station tried to get buses early but they were dropping off school children and didnt arrive till after 10am by that tiume a que had formed combined with lack of organisation to fill them i imagine it would of impacted those arriving later especially off the london trains as they would be packed.

all in all left taunton 30 miles away train at 7.30am arrived on site by about 12

There's plenty of things that could be done about it.

After taking 5 hours to move 6 miles on the A39/361 a local driving instructor told us to just go off the main road and take some small B roads around Street and Glastonbury town. This we did and all the roads were completely empty. Within 20 minutes we'd travelled a further 6 miles and had got within a mile of the west car parks entrance.

The trouble is that there was simply nobody managing the traffic. Nobody re-routing cars to emptier roads, no decent information about what was going on etc. ALl of the traffic was converging on a single point too. More roads being used and more entrances to the car park could avoid the same problem again.

Either that or I'm going by helicopter.

i hated the way that worthy fm was telling everyone stuck in their cars on the A39 for 9 hours on wednesday just how good it was to be on site and enjoying the festival. bastards!
