Turned up just as the previous band finished & walked straight up to the barrier, then watched them have a weird kind of stand off with the dj for what seemed like ages. the dj (the son of John Mayall) seemed to think everyone was there to see him, and the band were on stage raring to go.

Played an absolute blinder when they finally did get going, and at the end turned around and saw the place looked heaving.

Anyone else catch them?

I missed this, but Club Dada was a brilliant venue. Caught Pronghorn in there during a storm and had a right old mash up... it was MASSIVE in there. Not sure how I managed to not go in there last year!

Ah... HBE, what a breath of fresh air these guys are.

I caught them on the advertised Friday 6 o'clock spot at the Dance Lounge. If I'm honest it was one of only 3 badns I really wanted to catch and glad I did. Got there and some DJ set was still going on, eventually they buggered off and HBE came on about 15mins later. Only did 4-5 numbers though as the DJ set had over run (how can you over run playing some bloody records???).

Anyway, they were brilliant, only about a hundred of so people watching but it didn't matter they...er... Brassed! They mentioned another gig but I didn't know where it was going to be so when I heard after the event I was gutted.

Great bunch of lads, selling their CDs and greeting/meeting people afterwards. Personally seeing them made my festival, and what more all my mates who I dragged down now realise why I kept banging on about how good they were.

If you're around London this Saturday (18th) they're playing down the Shoreditch Festival, 6.15pm on the mian stage, I'll be catching them before hopping off down the Troxy to see Mozza.

Drum & Brass... it's the future.

    • Plenty of good stuff this month. Very difficult choice, but I'm going with some of those I've listened to most (the sunny weather may also have been influential)...   1. The Coral - 388 2. Kurt Vile - Philadelphia's Been Good to Me 3. The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!   Others I've been enjoying... Laurie Anderson's live album, Broken Social Scene, Pigeon, The Black Keys, etc
    • Yesterday was was Primavera is all about and a reminder of why I come back every year. I saw 9 acts, very diverse in terms of genre and vibe, and most of them were great.  Highlights:   The Cure - have wanted to see them for years. Finally caught them and it was immaculate. Robert Smith's vocals at his age are incredible. The band sounded exactly like the albums which is impressive. 2.5 hours with basically no filler somehow.  Viagra Boys - what a front man! So much energy. Non stop moshing. Sound was great, vibe was top notch. Again 10/10 for me.  Rilo Kiley - basically what pipan said. Not a huge crowd but nice vibe, good sound. Different from the other acts I saw.   I also enjoyed the late night electronic stuff with Aurora Halal and KI/KI being fun. Caught some of Skrillex before Aurora Halal and it was cool in it's own way but not really my thing so we left.
