You should have shouted out at the top of your voice "Don't f**king grope you pervert bastards!" whilst pointing at them and then watch the little f**kers squirm.

Being groped really does suck balls. You just don't know what to do because it's so invasive and you're scared of escalating it more, so you just do your best to get away, and then end up being pissed off with yourself for not being more assertive.

Sorry that happened to you Laura.

My gf was groped in Trash City. She turned round and loudly shouted at the bloke and he at least looked rather embarrassed. She used to live in Mexico City, so she became pretty adept at dealing with it (it's rife on public transport over there).

I didnt think it was as littery as 07. Although the Cider Bus was a mess on Thursday evening. BUT on Friday lunchtime it was pristine and there was lots of little litter elves in their uniforms doing a stirling job.

Well, unfortunately she's had quite a lot of practice. It's not an easy thing to do. Perhaps there's a certai British reserve involved too; I have a couple of American friends who wouldn't just shout out, they'd turn round and repeatedly punch the f**ker in the face!

For goodness sake.

Firstly, my initial post said:

I had a group of three men try to grope me as I walked away from the Brother's bar.I was wearing a bikini at the time but still don't think that gives anyone the right to grope me really! But haven't mentioned it up to now because I know there would be a fair few people who would say I deserve it because I was wearing a bikini top.

I didn't say it had 'effected me that much'. I just made a comment about it not being nice.

Secondly, I didn't let them try to grope me. In fact I'm a bit offended by that!

I took myself away from the situation because actually I don't know what else I could have done to sort it out - that wasn't letting them do it! What exactly would a 5ft6 girl exactly done to 3 6ft odd men?! Hit them?! I don't think that it would be worth the energy or that it would be the best reaction or right action. And as I mentioned before, I have discovered in the past that few people will step into come to your aid. I would have been the one left more worked up about it. They would have laughed it off in their group if I had tried to attack them or if I had started screaming at them!

And I don't know what a dark alley has to do with - I didn't think they were going to rape me for goodness sake, but what exactly would it have achieved?!

Sorry, rant over! :)

As my first glastonbury experience id like to say that it was an awesome weekend. Lots of good, fun people to talk to. And its not all about the music and the atmosphere there is so much else to to which was new to me considering ive only been to reading and download before.

Bad points.

Tons of litter

Where the hell was the designated place to put my cigarettes??

Crowd Movers, i dont really mind letting ppl past if they use respect, its not hard! just a tap on the shoulder followed with a "can i get past please" or something. But no they where twats. still, fun giving them a piece of my mind

My final piece is simply disgusting and i wouldnt expect it at reading or download, so i was amazed to see it at glastonbury. I was standing in the crowd for black eyed peas (yes i couldnt get a good viewing spot for blur cos of those dam flags) and just behind me i heard "DONT ESS WIV ME" expecting to see two 18-20 year olds. im astounded to see a guy late 20s punching a guy 40+!!!!! in the back of the head, and his daughter right there screaming in her dads defence. there was no retaliation from the older guy which alien to me. Luckily there where plenty of other members of the crowd breaking it up.

A full on assault at glastonbury. :D

I too came away this year with a sense of disappointment at some of the attitudes and actions of our fellow festival goers. Indeed a newbie in our group said to me "i didn't expect glasto to be this nasty" and my response was "Normally it isn't."

The flags don't really bother me as I'm short and can never see the stage anyway.

The chairs are fine when kept to the back of the field or in the campsite.

The litter was a lot worse than i've ever seen it, (2009 was my sixth glasto) as was the pissing.

At the silent disco on saturday night I was actually pissed on by some s**t who's only excuse when I turned round and confronted him was "I'm sorry, I really needed it."

However I have to say, that those who are blaming the "young people" need to stop reading the Mail and get a grip. This broken Britain, chav culture thing is a media invention, yes things are bad currently but we go through phases. Anyone who went to glasto in the 90s will back me up that it was dodgy then, give it a few years and it will swing back around.

Also, in response to this:

Anyone that gets the train/coach to glasto in the future is either; rich, glasto virgin or hates alcohol.

there was a massive increae in young people going

could perhapos have something to do with every one of these issues

the tape around a campsite area is so f****** annoying, that always seems to be the younger kids

Agree with everything you said.

There is one thing using a seat, but to sit in the middle of a crowd trying to move around you,, grrrrrrrrrrrr

The amount of people this year that were dam RUDE,, really pissed me off. for example in shangrala. the green wall with the girls dancing in them was great and if you interacted with then, it was a strange experience, anyway that another story, but then as the place filled with the crowds as the main stages closed, the amount of w*nkers that tried to punch poke and grap the girls was really bad. One guy shouted at them, only to have a huge amoung of abuce thrown at him..

This was my first Glasto and have to say compared with other big festivals I've been to, it was pretty much scum free.

I seen 4 people peeing, thou I wasn't realy looking for it. 1 guy in the bushes who got caught by the Green Police. Another guy who was doing it on a fence, his girfriend behind looked embaressed when I said 'plenty of toilets around you know'.

And 2 girls at Blur. I was standing beside the Juice Bar after buying a drink wondering how to get back nearer the stage. 2 girls came and one dropped her shorts and started peeing right next to me, then her blonde pal took a turn. I didn't say anything, I was more embarresed than them I think. But compared to T in the Park seeing only 4 was amazing.

My neighbours in Dairy Field were nice, students from around London. I took a female friend back to my tent on the Saturday afternoon for a sleep. We were both slaughtered after drinking huge amounts of Brothers at Rolf and Spinal Tap. They saw her there and came over to make sure she was OK, and also too see if I was there too just in case she was on the thieve. Didn't catch many names bar Johnny who arrived Thursday night, hello if you're out there.

The only other idiots were on Sunday night at Blur. Around 4 middle aged fuds were throwing empty cans and plastic bottles at peoples heads. So it's not always the youngsters.

rant mode on.

I noticed a massive increase in c***s this year at the festival, selfish people who look out for number one, costing the festival it's spirit and risking it's license.

1) Already mentioned elsewhere - a MASSIVE increase in flags this year, not a slight increase but a huge one. Some of us want to watch the performers, and don't care what team you support.

2) Litter. oooooooo the litter. there's always lots, there's bound to be, but like flags this year saw a huuuuuge increase in litter. Walking around the site and seeing it all was a disgrace, much like the t**t I saw who was stood 3 yards from 5 bins and dropped his bottle on the floor. scum

2) Pissing in the streams / against fences / around urinals. Again, there's always some, but I cant remember going into a single urinal without seeing someone doing it, even for the smallest queue. The green police can scream and shout all they like but it didnt stop anyone I saw this year who was doing it.

3) Taped off areas in camp sites. This year I went with just 2 other people, but thanks to our gazebo we ended up as a group of 12. Surely that's half the point of them? The amount of people taping around gazebos and tent spaces was unbelievable I thought. 3 People were camped next to us, made no attempt to socialise, taped off their area and had the cheek to walk through ours to get to theirs, even tho they were camped directly next to a path! Also they had 6 man tents each, at least - they were huge. Selfish brats.

4) Stools, seats and picnic mats. I've never seen so many! Everywhere you went! Now I know people like to sit, and you need a seat for that in muddy conditions, but that's no excuse to sit dirctly infront of the stages, taking up space for 20 standing people. Most didnt even stand up when the bands came on so there's no need to be there. They have to be an elf n safety issue surely? I tripped on loads of stool legs in the dark in the middle of large crowds, had I fallen I could so easily have been trampled. I noticed they were almost all around the pyramid and jazz world - go and see some other parts of the festival for once! and the cheek of people who whinged when you stood on their mats - im sorry but if you think I'm gonna crush myself even further by tiptoeing around your mat, 10 feet from the stage you can feck right off.

Now I know there's people on here who'll just say "lighten up" and think anything negative said against glastonbury and the goers should be instantly dismissed, however these people spoiled the atmosphere I thought, posed risks (4) and risk the festival getting a license in future (2).

Don't get me wrong I had a fantastic time, met loads of people and saw some great stuff, but these things really ticked me off

rant mode off.

Some good points here. This was my first Glastonbury experience and two of these points REALLY bugged me - the taping around your tent area and people sat in chairs in the middle of the crowd at the main stages. It's a good job that the Glasto crowd is so friendly - this would not go down well at some of the other festivals! At V or Reading - you'd get thrown out of your chair and have your tent tape ripped down.

On a plus side - I usually go to the V Festival; and the Glastonbury crowd are SO much friendlier. Still lively - but you see far less people pissing up against walls or into bottles, and less people agrressively pushing their way to the front.

The chairs were a nightmare, particually during Rolf Harris where there was a barrier of tents stopping thousands of people moving towards the Jazz World Stage. The marshalls at the tents simply told 'the sitters' to take their chairs outside and they did. Simple.

It was funny to watch a moody girl move her chair everytime someone stood up during Blur. We were half way up the hill overlooking the 3 screens, everytime somone new appeared to watch Blue she had to pick up her chair and move 6' along the hill. A game she was never going to win.

If you want to sit in your f**king chair, save yourself £175 and stay at home.

I noticed a group of lads last night at the other stage after the prodigy and they were gathering up all the plastic and little and set fire to it all along with a discarded camping chair. They then threw a few more highly flamable things on top and just walked away from it and started another further up the field.

Jesus, some right snobs in this thread. I thought Glasto was about embracing folk from all walks of life!? It was my first time there and my only complaints were people sitting on chairs in the D barrier and people cordening off areas with tape.

had a great festival personally, but some thoughts

1) Flags, bothered me less this year than last, Reckon you've just got to accept it, and not fret, unless you're right up the front, you're probably going to watch things on the screen anyway. If you want that sort of gig, where there are no flags, nobody pushes past and nobody talks, its not the main stage it's a headlining indoor show,

2) chairs, I like the idea of having chair zones, maybe wth markers, but again, it doesn't bother me too much.

3) there seemed to be a lot more teenagers this year. Personally, i think that's great, they seemed cool, enjoyed themselves and were no bother. They were certainly much less annoying than the posh, arrogant 20somethings who are clearly not really into music, sit in front of the pyramid all day and punch the air to Bon jovi records. Give me some mental off their face 17 year olds over those twats any day

personally when I'm walking through a crowd and see a line of chairs with no one sat in them I just pick one up, toss it on the nearest fire/stamp on it and carry on walking through the crowd laughing to myself.

What's wrong with the floor? Its comfy, always available (or at least it was this year) and you don't have to lug it about, seriously, a few more years and glasto will be full of people sat on chairs watching the bands......just like my grandparents in eastbourne
