Dreadful band, fronted by an idiot and a band who've done absolutely nothing worthwhile for 13/14 years.

Utterly irreleivant, going to see a band 13 years after they've done anything good is pretty odd, I reckon. It's like going to see the Stones in 1980 or some, an absolute anachronism, and a purely nostalgic exercise.

Those comments seem mostly fair enough to me. It's not the same as last year's ultra-conservative pronouncements on who is or isn't 'wrong' to headline glastonbury. He's just expressing his opinion, presumably because a journo rang him up to ask him, looking for a follow-up on last year's big controversy.

The only thing that annoys me is the 'university' comment, as if being working class bars you from ever showing any imagination or inventiveness. That attitude is one of the reasons Oasis have had such a terrible effect on British music.

And yes, they were sh*t in 04.

How can he comment on anything Oasis havent made a decent album since 1995, and then theyve spent the last 14 years touring that, nobody goes to see Oasis for any other reason than to sing along to tracks of Definately Maybe & Whats the story morning glory, maybe if they'd evolved or done something different people might remember some of there other albums? thes a complete and utter tool

Noel condemns Franz Ferdinand at Glastonbury

but also likes that the wombats are playing, christ all mighty :S

won't the guy shut up

I do admire the way he puts himself in his place though by claiming that he can't play any genres of music, i mean we all knew but it's reassuring to know that he does too

I'm not a fan of the bloke (though agree the first 2 albums were very fine albums) but can't help find the media sensationalism nonsense hugely funny...

"Noel backs Glasto

Noel Gallagher has spoken enthusiastically about this summer's Glastonbury Festival line-up, following his controversial comments in 2008...." :

"Noel Applauds Glastonbury Line-Up

Glastonbury 2008's notorious critic Noel Gallagher has paid compliment to this year's line-up..." :

"Noel Gallagher takes a new swipe at Glastonbury

Noel Gallagher has taken a new swipe at the Glastonbury line-up.... The Oasis songwriter criticised the acts lined up for this year's festival...." :

"Oasis in dig at Franz Glasto gig

A year after his controversial comments about Jay-Z playing the Glastonbury Festival, Oasis star Noel Gallagher has taken aim at Franz Ferdinand.... blah blah...." :

Each of these refer to the same interview as far as I can see...

What a load of bollocks.

like bruce springstein?

most bands don't change their sound anyway. there are only a few who have the ability to do so (such as radiohead). i don't hear people slagging off the likes of rage against the machine/the prodigy/bob marley etc etc etc for having the same sound for the whole of their careers. it is only really oasis who get picked up on this.

i dont get why everyones getting thier rage on becuase noel was asked his opinion and gave his honest thoughts, what do you want him to like all the bands you like and say franz ferdinand are the best thing ever when he doesnt like them. i mean i dislike wombats and the enemy but i dont think noels a nob fo liking them!.

Overall he was positive about this years glasto,he listed a few bands he likes and praised the headliners but people here focus in on how he only said he doesnt like franz and wouldnt have chosen them to play as if he cant have a right to his own musical taste!,ha.

And why do people have this high expection for oasis to be experimental and deliver the new sound or something?, they tried to be bit different and made thier worst album, coke prob helped them too though!.

I personally think thier quite consistent with delivering good albums, and their true to who they are and honest about who they are and what they think but are disliked for it!.

They played in front of 270,000 people at the weekend, and have sold out gigs at the millenium stadium and wembley stadium coming up......how can they not be "relevant"?????????? I doubt very much that franz ferdinand would sell that many tickets!!!

To be honest, I don't think it was a university jibe. He's just saying he hasn't studied music and thus operates at the very limit of his musical ability, and can't turn his hand to operas or other genres. How is that a jibe?

wow... What a massive amount of drivel...

Some reporter asks for his opinion and he gives it.. Whats he meant to say ? No comment ??

He only slagged of Franz Ferdinand and to be frank you either like them or not... He was even nice about bloody Blair...

Anti Noel vibe on here is a bit stupid to be frank... Even his Jay-Z was blown up into more than it ever was...

What really annoys me is the fact that he feels that he has any right to make comments on the quality of the acts on at a festival that Oasis completely bombed at. No one else in a big band seems to feel the need to slag of their peers to such a degree. We all like different things Noel, get over yourself you cock.
