Job seekers allowance is to help you seek a job. Travel expenses to intereviews etc. Thats what i was told at jobcenter plus. Not once since i lost my job have i used my JSA to have any kind of fun with or seek a job. Mine stays in the bank and goes towards paying bills etc .I fund all my job seeking with my savings and redundancy. I also fund my Glasto trip with the same. Because of the scroungers who do abuse the system i cant claim anything other than JSA the restrictions on what i can claim are unreal. I do not abuse the system and will never be able to. I'm 43 yrs old left school at 16 so have been able to work for 27 years. Out of that time i've been unemployed for 11months including my current stint claiming JSA. I have a large mortgage, a 6 yr old son and all the bills etc that everyone else has. JSA does not cover this. It is NOT kept at level at which you can live on. It is at level at which the government thinks you need to post letters make phone calls, travel to interviews etc. If you can fill numerous criteria you can claim for your bills, mortgage etc but only if you can fill some very strict criteria.

I'm beginning to regret putting this thread up. It seems to have opened up a can of worms. I'm not having a go here just trying to make the doubters see how it is. For me life isn't to good at the moment and Glasto is the only thing that keeps me going i need it so much just to get away from worrying if i'll still have a roof over my head in 6 months, if i can buy my son new clothes and a present for his birthday. So to all who doubt the unemployeds integrity Give us a break for a few days and lets enjoy the fest together.

To those of you that will say '' shouldn't you be spending your money on your son and mortgage rather than going to Glasto'' . I say this i need Glasto to keep my sanity and help me see that life isn't as bad as it seems sometimes. My son will get his clothes and present and i will pay for it with my money that i saved and worked hard for. So to all you taxpayers who want to know where your money goes it doesnt fund my leisure activities. I do.

    • Yeah credit where it's due, that's a really good price to try and help get people in.   Most of my early football games were to see West Brom as my uncles are Baggies. Did a few trips to the Hawthorns, Luton, MK Dons, did most of the London grounds between Championship + Prem.
    • would you be able to post the statement? I can’t seem to find it
    • I worked Wilderness for Oxfam this weekend. I was very lucky as my shift was in the arena on Sunday afternoon & I saw all of Annie's set.   I echo every word. She was brilliant. The Legend slot is made for her.
    • Seeing more stuff about Madonna turning down glasto for three nights in London, what do we reckon? Likelihood looking low now or keep the faith?
    • Do we think there is realistic chance Sziget could get cancelled? I'm reading about Hungarian energy crysis and many measures and prohibitions due to this.    They relesed a statement and comment section is on fire..
