This Years Park Special Guests

Guest radioshed

It's pretty much definitely The Libertines.

The "Special Guests" slot is wher ePEte was originally supposed to be playing on the Saturday.

His manager even came out and said last week that PEte's been confirmed as playing on The Park stage at that slot.

Someone told me they are on tour in europe at glasto time, but just checked, they are playing london on 24th june and nothing untill 29th when in paris.

Could be any of three bands if jack is free.

But i'd say stripes, as dead weather aren't established band yet.

Libertines and stripes will do me very nicely at park.

but i thought this thread was about the 'very special guest band' that emily was talking about- the one that will 'cause a healthy safety issue' if announced

i would venture that most people haven't heard of dead weather yet.......the saturday special guest slot won't be dead weather.

previous secret slots have been pete doherty, franz ferdinand and last shadow puppets.....all huge at the time....it'll be a decent sized act

Just park yourself at the park stage Friday and Saturday for the guest slots and you won't miss them.

First instinct when i heard the Emily interview was the Libertines, i can't see why anyone else mentioned playing would be a safety risk.

I think that the Flaming Lips are still rumored for the saturday on the rumors page, so does anyone else reckon they could be the special guests on the saturday?

As for the special guests on the friday, Dead Weather are definately a good shout. And although I reckon its fairly unlikely there might be some potential for a libertines slot.

Also does anyone know if the special guest slots get worked out here on efestivals before the festival? The slots are generally fairly high up and would be clashing with some strong main stage acts, who I'd be fairly reluctant to miss, but would happily do so if I knew a band i really liked was playing the special guest slot down at the park.

Shame this really but things like this are just too much effort for me. Like the Maximo opening the festival thing where only 1500 people can get in to see them. I know for a fact i won't be arsed enough to get there early etc, and the same here. Won't be bothered sitting around waiting all day for a band who may or not turn up.

it'll get leaked before anyway - Pete did a "special guest" slot in 2007 and it was everywhere on the internet before hand. I quick search the night before we leave shall tell us everything

If its not the libertines I say we trash the place

I suggest that if you want to know when the special guests are on, you try looking at the line up.

I reckon Vampire Weekend have to be one of them. Orbital at 4-ish in the afternoon could be phenomenal but I doubt it will happen!

Awhile ago in an interview Micheal let slip he had been on the phone to Radioheads people whiled planning this festival its possible Thom York would do a solo set, if not a full Radiohead set

Second paragraph

Placebo have been heavily touted as playing but haven't appeared anywhere yet.

Libs would be on for a slot if they could cobble something together

Kanya West said he would perform with Mr Hudson and I don't see him doing that on an opening slot

Faith No More are festival tied for publicity but an unannounced slot isn't past them

Skunk Anansie have reformed and tour later in the year (Yes please Mr Eavis sir!)

Dunno. don't care. but at bloody last there is some interesting banter over who is playing
